Hi! I am an LMFT based in California, more specifically the Bay Area. I am a father of two beautiful girls (#girldad), an avid golfer, and blackbelt in Brazilian Jiujitsu. I have been working in mental health and performance coaching for over 10 years. My passion is to help athletes and their parents find strategies to balance the demands of their sport and other areas of their life that they may be struggling with. I especially love working with fathers trying to engage their fatherhood in new ways.
Effective therapy and coaching only happens with a strong sense of understanding and trust. In the first session we try to build a strong foundation for a trusting therapeutic relationship. We do this through self-disclosure, transparency, establishing a non-judgmental space, a collaborate on what to expect and what our goals would be in your treatment.
The bulk of my clinical experience has been with high needs high risk adolescents. This has helped me be an expert in active listening and quickly creating a trusting and non-judgmental space. With that, I have created a tried and true playbook for getting to the root of issues and help clients quickly feel understood and ready to work on the struggles they may be experiencing.
Within all my experience in mental health, my most cherished moments are those spent with supporting parents (especially father's) work through their own struggles to reach their children on higher and healthier levels. I also love working with adolescent and adult athletes break ground on mental blocks and find balance within their sport and personal lives. I admire the athlete that does not shy away from seeking support when needed.
My practice utilizes CBT to help address negative thought based patterns and engage in behavior change through restructuring those patterns and engaging in somatic and cognitive skill formation. I use CBT with clients dealing with anxiety and depression.
My practice uses Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to focus on helping individuals manage intense emotions, improve relationships, and build distress tolerance. My main focus with DBT is for client's struggling to manage intense emotions and patterns that inhibit their functioning in environment they would like to strive in.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy integrates mindfulness practices, like meditation and present-moment awareness, with traditional therapeutic approaches to help individuals manage stress, anxiety, and depression. It encourages non-judgmental awareness of thoughts and feelings, promoting emotional regulation and overall well-being.
