I’m a psychiatric nurse practitioner, and my role is to help you manage your mental health. I work with patients to assess, diagnose, and treat a range of mental health conditions like anxiety, depression, ADHD, and mood disorders. This involves a combination of medication management and therapy, where I monitor how medications are working for you and adjust them as needed. I also provide psychotherapy with medication management to help you develop coping skills, manage stress, and work through emotional challenges. My goal is to work collaboratively with you, providing support and guidance as we develop a treatment plan tailored to your unique needs. I’m here to ensure you feel comfortable, informed, and empowered throughout your mental health journey.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, you can expect a thorough assessment of your mental health history and current symptoms. We’ll discuss your presenting concerns, including any challenges you're facing, such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, or other mental health issues. I’ll ask about your medical, psychiatric, and family history, as well as any past treatments, medications, or therapy you've received. We’ll also explore your daily routine, lifestyle factors, and coping mechanisms to get a full picture of your mental well-being. If medications are indicated, we’ll discuss potential options, their benefits, and side effects to create a personalized treatment plan. I’ll provide psychoeducation on your diagnosis and collaborate with you to set treatment goals that align with your needs and preferences. The first session is also a time for you to ask questions, share any concerns about treatment, and get comfortable with the therapeutic process. My goal is to create a supportive and non-judgmental environment where you feel heard and empowered to take the next steps in your mental health journey.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Understanding of psychiatric conditions, a compassionate approach to patient care, and the ability to perform efficient and rationale-based charting. My proficiency in conducting psychiatric evaluations, prescribing medications, and implementing therapeutic interventions to providing comprehensive mental health care.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

The client that I best serve is likely one who is engaged in their treatment process, open to collaboration, and committed to personal growth. They would be motivated to understand their mental health challenges, receptive to psychoeducation, and proactive in managing their symptoms. This client would follow through with medication adherence, openly communicate about their progress, and actively participate in therapy, applying coping skills and strategies discussed during sessions. Additionally, they would value the therapeutic relationship, work with me as a partner in their journey, and take responsibility for their wellness while remaining flexible and open to adjustments in their treatment plan. This kind of collaboration allows for more efficient care and progress, aligning with my goal of providing high-quality, patient-centered psychiatric care.

My treatment methods

Psychoeducation

Psychoeducation therapy is a critical aspect of my practice, especially when managing conditions like anxiety, depression, ADHD, and mood disorders. In psychoeducation, I provide patients with essential information about their diagnoses, treatment options, and the effects of medications or other interventions. The goal is to help patients better understand their conditions, so they can actively participate in their treatment plans and feel empowered to make informed decisions. In sessions, I educate patients on how their symptoms manifest, how their thoughts and behaviors can influence these symptoms, and the expected outcomes of both therapeutic and pharmacological treatments. I also discuss potential side effects of medications, ways to monitor their progress, and how to recognize early warning signs of relapse or worsening symptoms. This collaborative approach fosters a deeper understanding of mental health, reduces stigma, and promotes self-management skills, ultimately leading to better treatment adherence and outcomes. Psychoeducation is often blended with supportive therapy, where patients not only learn about their conditions but also feel validated and supported throughout the process. This combination strengthens the therapeutic alliance and enhances the effectiveness of treatment.

Supportive

In my practice, I use supportive therapy as an essential component of treatment, especially when working with patients experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, and mood disorders. Supportive therapy involves creating a therapeutic environment where patients feel understood, validated, and encouraged. This method emphasizes reinforcing the patient's strengths, addressing current stressors, and providing guidance and coping strategies to manage symptoms. I combine supportive therapy with medication management, helping patients understand how pharmacological interventions like SSRIs for depression or stimulants for ADHD work in tandem with therapy. During sessions, I explore how the patient’s thoughts, behaviors, and emotions interact with their condition and tailor my interventions to their unique needs. Through active listening and empathetic engagement, I offer both emotional and practical support, empowering patients to develop resilience and make progress in their treatment goals.
