I am a nerdy, outdoorsy, sporty individual who loves to use metaphors to help process through life's challenges. I often ask clients to complete homework assignments between sessions, but try to meet clients where they are at and not give them too much at once. My modality tends to adapt to the client, and although I most often utilize Experiential, ACT, CPT and Narrative approaches, I am most often combining them to fit the needs of each individual, couple, or family. I love tangible skills however, and will provide handouts whenever possible!
I try to be transparent and set expectations from the start - this includes informing clients that I might not be the best fit for them and vice-versa, and if that is the case, it is ok - I want every client to understand that they have agency and empower them to practice having hard conversations, including when I'm not the therapist for them!
My adaptability, transparency, and personal accountability. I will own any mistakes made, share where my limitations are, and collaborate with clients on how to move forward with their goals in mind.
I work best with clients who are READY to work - I am more than happy to provide basic coping skills, but do my best work when someone is willing to explore relational dynamics, their personal accountability, or who they are in general and how they "fit" in the world.
I ask the clients I work with to understand what their values are so that I can work with them in a value-driven way instead of imposing my own values. I also tend to tie many of ACT's components into whatever method I am utilizing.
I am a certified CPT therapist, and generally utilize this method with clients who have developed PTSD due a specific event.
I work with individuals, couples, and families. I will often ask individuals to bring in members of their support system for sessions.
