New clients continue care with this provider

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT100605). I received my B.A. in Psychology at Loyola University of New Orleans and earned an M.A. in Sociology at the University of Pittsburgh as well as an M.A. in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Community Psychology. I prefer to utilize a clinical approach that enlists some of the strategies aligned with CBT but guided by principles outlined by positive psychology which highlight the idea that identifying personal strengths can create the impetus for productive and satisfying outcomes. I hope to play a part in supporting my clients as they seek to live a more authentic life. I believe that we are all attempting to be our best selves in spite of the complications we experience in our lives. My aim is to help my clients to fully explore some of the assumptions they hold about themselves and their life. Whether we are struggling with depression, anxiety and/or life changes...we must find the courage to face our truths and figure out how to get our needs met. I aspire to offer a space of non-judgment, understanding, and exploration in order for my clients to begin a process of self-reflection that will allow them to gain clarity around the steps they need to take to begin to live their life fully. A tenet of my approach is the belief that self-efficacy can create life changes. I firmly believe that the key to changing one's life resides within themselves. I would be honored for the opportunity to work with clients who are willing to do the work it takes to begin to live a full and authentic life.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

An initial meeting will begin with an intake which is comprised of a biopsychosocial assessment to allow me to obtain a holistic history. I prefer to do this in a colloquial fashion and so I hope to obtain this information through a conversation where I'm capturing the information I need as naturally as possible. The client will do most of the speaking in this session with some interjection from me as I request additional clarification.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I attempt to be as relational as possible to adhere to a humanistic approach. I am big proponent of the Rogerian approach that emphasizes the importance of helping a client move towards growth and self-actualization. I believe it is necessary to have patience with a client's process as it allows clients to gain the confidence needed to attain a state of internal congruence.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I utilize a modality that prioritizes behavior activation. A major tenet of this is modality is engaging in actions that will allow the client to shift their beliefs and/or behaviors. That said, I believe I am best equipped to help clients who are prepared to take action-oriented steps to try and alleviate the challenges with which they are faced.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I like to explore with my client's their lived lives as well as their experiences from childhood. This provides a helpful foundation to begin to identify maladaptive beliefs that may color the lens they use to understand their lives. Working together with the client, we reframe certain maladaptive beliefs with the ingrown wisdom they have acquired in their life.
