Hello, and welcome to my practice. I'm Dr. Elliott. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California with over 20 years of experience helping individuals heal from trauma, anxiety, depression, burnout, and life transitions. I am also a counselor educator and professor of counseling, and I specialize in working with therapists, healers, and other helping professionals who are navigating burnout, compassion fatigue, or personal challenges. My approach is holistic, trauma-informed, and rooted in family systems therapy. I integrate somatic practices, mindfulness, and spiritual perspectives to help clients understand how past experiences and intergenerational patterns may be influencing their present lives. Together we work to process unresolved trauma, shift limiting beliefs, and develop healthier emotional and relational patterns. Many of my clients are thoughtful, self-aware individuals who are seeking deeper healing and personal growth. I strive to create a supportive space where you can explore your experiences, regulate your nervous system, and reconnect with a stronger sense of clarity, balance, and purpose in your life. When appropriate I can also bring a Native American lens to the treatment as I am Native and have been involved in ceremonial life for over 30 years.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, so our first session is designed to be supportive and comfortable. We will spend time getting to know one another and talking about what has been bringing you to therapy at this point in your life. You are welcome to share as much or as little as you feel ready for. Together, we will begin identifying the areas you would like support with and explore possible paths forward. With over 20 years of experience as a therapist and counselor educator, I am able to help clients gently and efficiently begin understanding the patterns that may be contributing to stress, anxiety, trauma, or burnout. My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, supported, and hopeful about the work we can do together.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I have been in practice over 20 years and have a PhD in counselor education. I have a well developed emotional container and aim to create a space where clients feel empowered and safe to share their life situations. There are many paths to the top of the mountain. We only need to find one that works for you.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I especially enjoy working with women in helping professions including therapists, healers, educators, and other caregivers who are navigating burnout, major life transitions, or a loss of confidence after years of focusing on others. Many of my clients are thoughtful, emotionally intelligent women who appear strong and capable on the outside but feel depleted, overwhelmed, or uncertain about their next chapter. These are often individuals who have spent years supporting others and are now ready to turn that same level of care toward themselves. Together we work to restore emotional balance, rebuild confidence, and address deeper patterns related to trauma, over-responsibility, and intergenerational dynamics so that you can move forward with greater clarity and resilience.
Trauma Informed Care
I am trained in Somatic Archeology and treatment for historical trauma. I also teach and train other therapists in culturally sustainable, somatic based, trauma informed therapy.
Integrative
I use a combination of somatic psychodynamic, solutions focused, existential and trauma informed counseling to bring a culturally sensitive approach to my clients.
