Hey you! I am Cierra and it would be my honor to collaborate with you on a journey that we all share called...LIFE. But before you do me the honor of working alongside you, let me introduce myself. I am Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) located in sunny California. I earned my master's from Point Loma Nazarene University and have successfully navigated the mental health field for 5 years and counting. That may not seem like a seasoned professional to some, but prior to that I served in the Navy for 20 years and counting as well. With that I find that the population I serve best are youth, teens, and young adults that experience challenges such as anxiety, depression, stressors from relationships and intense emotions and everything else in between. Our time together will be spent curating authentic strategies that brings you to your highest potential.
Upon first meeting with each other, a brief introduction would be shared between us both in getting to know each other. Once each person feels that each other is a good fit, a thorough assessment will be conducted to determine your needs and concerns that my skills can assist you with tailored ongoing, consistent sessions.
Having a niche for young adults, teens, and youth, in all of my career I've developed a knack for a solid connected foundation that (a) creates a collaborative approach that builds trust (b) holds space for the discomfort of obstacles yet progressively moving forward (c) create a tailored plan that leads to measurable progress.
I am passionate in collaborating with young adults, teens, and youth who are beginning and/or currently experiencing challenges in hopes to discover their values and live them authentically. This can range from interpersonal conflicts, relational struggles, familial challenges, school and work issues, etc. My hope is for my client to be open to face obstacles with a growth mindset but have the willingness try the tools needed to make their goal a reality.

When intense emotions become too great and seems to consume you, this approach teaches you how to not only manage them but identify, accept, and challenge them. Additionally, skills are taught to effectively regulate emotional dysregulation to become more productive with day-to-day.
With this treatment, you will learn to recognize distortions in your thinking patterns that are creating problems and then reevaluate them in light of reality. Additionally, you will gain a better understanding of your behavior and motivation to challenge and change the monotonous thought patterns.
This emphasizes on the dynamics and relationships within a family unit, involving multiple family members to address issues affecting the whole family. This can include but not limited to influences, communication, conflict resolution, or boundaries within the family.
Uniquely this is tailored to a person's potential for growth, self-actualization, and self-discovery. It's based on the idea that people are inherently good and have the capacity to find their own solutions to problems. Cierra was very attentive and made the conversation feel like it was flowing rather than a get to know you for the first time questionnaire

She’s helping us communicate better. She helps us actually hear what the other is saying and feeling. She does it with warmth and humor. I’m thankful for Cierra’s help.
