My name is Perla and I have been providing therapeutic services to individuals of ages 4 and older since 2017. I have been providing individual therapy to victims of crime, domestic violence and with open cases with the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). In addition, I have worked in the correctional health care and hospital setting with individuals who suffer from anxiety, depression, grief, PTSD and substance abuse issues. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, it is important to allow you to have a safe space to share your narrative/experiences and provide you a different perspective in order for you to identify healthy coping skills to implement in your day to day life. As a therapist, it is important to help you understand how your experiences affect the way you feel and the decisions you make. He brindado terapia individual a víctimas de delitos, violencia doméstica y casos abiertos con el Departamento de Servicios para Niños y Familias (DCFS). During our first session, we will get to know each other briefly and explore reasons for seeking therapy services. In addition, I will also explain what the therapy sessions will look like and let you ask any questions you might have.
I have been working with people who suffer from severe depression and anxiety for about 5 years. Throughout my experience as an LMFT, I have realized that as people, we tend to be stuck on our past experiences or stuck on thinking about our future life. In order to live a more fulfilled life, we need to realize that living day to day, will give us a better perspective on our life and realize that the past/future are things we either can't change or have no control over in this moment. As your therapist, I will guide you in being more present and enjoy your life day to day.
I have been practicing solution focused treatment for about 6 years. During treatment, I guide clients in identifying problems that have been causing specific symptoms. Once the problems have been identified we work together in setting goals to solve those specific problems.
I have been practicing CBT for the past 6 years. During treatment, I guide clients in identifying negative thoughts and behaviors and learn how to change the thought and behavior to reduce symptoms.
