Greetings! I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) and have worked with offenders, anger management clients, couples, teens and adults struggling with ADHD, anxiety and depression. Through a strengths based approach, my clients learn more about themselves thus improving self-confidence, communication, mood and overall outlook on life. I love serving my teen and couples clients via the Gallup strengths test. This test helps individuals understand where their energy is highest and what they value most. It's not about "strengths", but values. I believe one of the best things we can do for ourselves is take the time to truly understand ourselves as this helps us learn to communicate effectively, be productive, overcome procrastination and more. This is one tool of many I enjoy using to help my clients.

Graduating in 2012, I have met with many hundreds of individuals, couples and families using a myriad of different methodologies. What I have learned is that the best way to help a client is to let go of anything you ever learned and connect with the person individual in front of you, not as a client but as a person. In addition, I take a highly biased and slanted bent towards your strengths and qualities with an unhidden agenda of manifesting your individual core beauty. In other words, this is a highly individual journey and the key to enjoying it is through highly colored lenses of your inexhaustible array of qualities. All methodology and techniques fall to the wayside.

He completed his Doctorate in Counseling at the University of Cincinnati in 2016. Dr. Trauth traveled to El Salvador and to Nicaragua to help build water filtration systems and malaria-proofing latrines while also being introduced to permaculture techniques for third-world country applications. Dr. Trauth worked three years at the Clermont Recovery Center in Batavia, Ohio, with adolescents incorporating therapy through gardening. Last year he completed his 72 hour permaculture certification. More recently at St. Leo the Great parish, Dr. Trauth began working with the Burundian refugee population. These refugees requested his help in obtaining land for farming so they could grow their own food. Observable outcomes that have had a significant impact on these refugees include community integration, self-efficacy, self-sufficiency, increase in business knowledge, opportunities for physical exercise for all ages, and a collaboration with different organizations focused on the creation and sustainability of a refugee garden.

I look forward to working with you! Specializations Addiction and/or Substance Use Concerns, Anger Management, Anxiety, Couples Counseling, Depression, Family Therapy, Grief, Health Psychology, Parenting Issues, Relationship Issues, Sleep Health, Women's Health. In our sessions, you can see into my home, and it is as if you are right there with me. No filters, no staring at a wall behind me. You will be inside of my home office as if it were in person. At our sessions I take notes that I give to you at the end of our sessions, so you have have something tangible to take with you, as well as links to resources such as podcasts, books, take home exercises (never mandatory though!) to help you progress in between sessions to make our time together more valuable. I used to be in direct service many years ago and then moved into training EAP providers and offering trainings for Mental Health providers to maintain their licenses, but during the, "Great Hiatus," I saw that people needed help. So I came back to be in the trenches. You are in good hands! I am also a student of positive psychology, but I have the ability to empathize deeply and really be right there with you. Almost all of my clients have experienced breakthroughs and by the end of our time together are enjoying their lives again and feeling competent to problem solve and develop coping tools, and resiliency.

Time does not heal all wounds; it just gives them space to sink into the subconscious, where they continue to impact your emotions and behavior. “What heals is going inward, loving yourself, accepting yourself, listening to your needs, addressing your attachments and emotional history and following your intuition" (Yung Pueblo). I aim to create an alliance with my clients to help them find their voice, tell their story, re-engage their strengths and cultivate new ways to stay mindful and grounded—no matter what life throws at them. You are a woman who has been devastated by grief over pregnancy loss, infertility, or postpartum depression and anxiety. You desperately want to find someone to talk to about how alone and sad you feel. You feel heartbroken, ashamed, and angry lately. Your world has stopped while everyone else seems to be living their best life. You find yourself having the same fights with your partner over and over again. Society glamorizes pregnancy and motherhood which can make you feel even more alone and misunderstood. If you see one more pregnancy announcement or social media post about the happiness of motherhood, you might lose it! Your baby is important to you no matter how much time you have spent with them. You want to learn how to keep your baby’s memory alive. You want to learn how to experience happiness during this new transition to motherhood. You want to feel heard by someone without shame or judgment. You are not alone. As a woman, I have been there.

As a professional mental health counselor specializing in treating anxiety and depression, I provide a comprehensive approach to help prospective clients manage their mental health challenges. My process typically begins with an initial consultation or assessment session, where I create a safe and supportive environment for clients to share their concerns and goals. I employ evidence-based treatments, particularly drawing from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which is a form of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). In my sessions, I guide clients through a process of accepting their thoughts and feelings rather than fighting against them. I help them identify their values and commit to actions that align with those values, even in the presence of difficult emotions or thoughts. During sessions, I may utilize various techniques such as mindfulness exercises, experiential exercises, and cognitive restructuring to help clients develop psychological flexibility. This involves teaching them skills to defuse from unhelpful thoughts, increase awareness of the present moment, and take committed action towards meaningful life goals. Additionally, I collaborate with clients to develop personalized treatment plans tailored to their specific needs and circumstances. I may incorporate psychoeducation about anxiety and depression, as well as teach coping strategies and relaxation techniques to empower clients in managing their symptoms outside of therapy sessions. My approach is characterized by empathy, non-judgment, and respect for the individuality of each client. I strive to create a therapeutic alliance based on trust and collaboration, where clients feel understood and supported in their journey towards improved mental well-being.

I have been practicing as a clinical social worker for over thirty years and I have never gotten bored or tired or even considered doing anything else. I am originally from New York State and got my bachelor's degree in English literature at NYU. I took some time off to travel and then settled in Houston, Texas and got my master's degree from the University of Houston. I had extensive psychoanalysis to heal my own wounds prior to becoming a therapist and, after being licensed, I became a therapist, then clinical director, of a psychiatric day treatment center. After about seven years I opened my own private practice office where I saw clients in the evening and, during the daytime, I saw clients who were referred to me for treatment in several independent living and nursing facilities, and at a residential treatment center for adults with schizophrenia and other major mental illness. Since coming to Ohio five years ago I have been in private practice and signed up with Grow Therapy in August of 2023.

Congratulations on taking the first on your healing journey! I am passionate about empowering individuals. I aim to join you in successfully reaching your goals of resolving conflicts, lessening distress and emotional pain, solving problems, and enhancing your overall well-being. I work hard to create a safe, calm place where my clients feel heard. My counseling style is pretty laid back. I have been described as supportive, caring, and compassionate, with a pretty good sense of humor. I like to focus on identifying your strengths and helping you to maximize them to overcome your obstacles. I'm here to help you sort through the things that are difficult right now, and offer you a safe place to be open and honest without fear of judgment. I provide support and interventions to help you find resolution to events in your past, present, and future.

I am a licensed clinical mental health therapist and hold my Masters degree in Social Work from The University of Akron. I believe each person can heal and my role is to provide you with support, feedback, education, and therapeutic interventions so you can. I utilize a collaborative and strengths-based approach to counseling and provide a warm, empathetic and compassionate environment (and maybe a little humor). I look forward to being a part of your path to healing!
