I was drawn into the counseling field from a very early age, always curious about people, their relationships, ideas people embrace, choices they make. How do we solve problems or sometimes find them beyond our wisdom and imagination to solve? Even when we do our very best, sometimes we can’t seem to get it right. That can feel overwhelming and finding a way out can seem impossible. A warm and listening heart can be a big help providing the support needed to find our way again. With over 40 years of experience, I have helped a wide variety of people with many concerns.

My name is Betsy and I am a licensed mental health clinician with over 10 years of experience working with adolescents and adults. Through my training and experience, I have developed a philosophy that simply listening, validating and being non-judgmental is “help.” However, to guide a patient’s growth in mental health treatment, it is important to challenge them in a non-threatening manner but to promote thought is necessary. Additionally, It is sometimes important to be the mirror that clients do not want to look in. Lastly, treatment should be collaborative and educate which means providing psycho-education information, written treatment work, and provide well rounded mental health guidance and support to help patient identify and achieve treatment goals.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and I have been practicing for over 18 years. In my clinical opinion, all therapeutic approaches come from a place of strength, validation and compassion. In my work, I focus on the concerns you feel comfortable sharing while validating your experiences, creating a compassionate and safe space which allows you to effect change and move past pain, loss, trauma and regret. I aim to teach you that the present moment is truly the gift we have, even if it doesn't always feel that way. Our past is behind us, it can neither hurt us any longer nor be changed. We do not know the future, it is not yet visible. Attempting to prepare for what is to come or holding tight to what is no more, takes us away from the present, the moments we have right now, preventing us from embracing the life we dream of. Old messages, hurts and grief often keep us stuck, holding onto a past that will always be a part of who we are, but in no way defines us. We are not "what" we have endured, rather it is the "what" which forged our strengths, awareness and resilience. The story we create is not written by anyone other than ourselves. The truth in life is that we are all good as we are, right now, in this moment. And the beauty in life is that we can grow to be better, no matter what we may have been told, witnessed or lived. You matter, your journey matters, your recovery is what you decide, what you want and I am proud to be a partner to you in this. Even if you select another therapist, remember you are worth it, always.

My goal is to create a space where people can speak openly about what they are struggling with while also feeling understood as a whole person, not just a diagnosis or problem to solve. I understand that reaching out for therapy can feel uncomfortable or overwhelming at times, so I work to create an environment that is calm, collaborative, and focused on helping clients feel safe enough to grow and make meaningful changes.

I work with adults navigating anxiety, stress, and life transitions — those moments when things feel unsteady and you're not quite sure how to move forward. My approach starts with building a warm, genuine relationship where you feel safe to explore what's really going on beneath the surface. From there, I bring in practical tools — often drawing on CBT and coping strategies — so you leave sessions with more than just insight, but real ways to manage day-to-day. As a parent myself, I understand how life's transitions can test us in ways we don't always expect, and I bring that same steadiness and practicality to the people I work with.

These times are urgent. Let us slow down.” ― Bayo Akomolafe Let's take things one breath at a time, slowing down instead of rushing through the hard parts. I don’t believe in fixing or solving everything all at once in the hopes it does not reoccur. Instead, I offer space for curiosity, vulnerability, and connection, because that’s often where healing begins. Together we’ll practice being with your experiences, not just getting past them. I work with people facing all kinds of mental health and personal life challenges, and I especially love helping clients untangle old patterns and build new ones that feel more like them. My approach is relational and HUMOROUS, humanistic, honest, warm, and collaborative. I work mostly with teens and adults. You may know exactly what you want to change, but still find yourself feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or repeating the same patterns despite your best efforts. I often help with anxiety, depression, grief, emotional intensity, low self-worth, and relationship stress, especially when someone knows what they want to do but struggles to follow through. My style is direct, supportive, and down-to-earth, and I use CBT, DBT, REBT, and motivational interviewing to make therapy feel practical, collaborative, and genuinely helpful. I also bring warmth and humor into the work so it feels more like a real conversation with someone in your corner rather than being analyzed by some human computer
