(she/her)
Hello, and welcome! My name is Charuta Pednekar, and I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with a Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW). My professional journey spans over 15 years, during which I have worked extensively as a medical social worker in various hospitals, and community mental health centers. This diverse experience has given me a deep understanding of the unique challenges people face at different stages of life and in various circumstances. My Professional Background Education: Master’s in Social Work (MSW) Licensure: Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) Experience: Over 15 years in hospital settings, non profit organizations and community mental health center. I have had the privilege of working with adults and seniors facing a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, adjustment to medical diagnoses, grief, family conflict, and more. My background in both hospital and community settings allows me to offer a holistic perspective on mental health and physical well-being.
My first session is designed to build a strong therapeutic alliance. I work on making my clients feel welcomed and at ease, the next step is setting the ground work; clarifying expectations, setting goals, discussing treatment plan is all part of this session as well. Gathering information is also a big part of this session, I open up the session for clients and empower them to share as much as they are comfortable with. Sharing feelings and emotions is highly encouraged.
My training as a social worker and years of experience have ingrained in me the importance of staying non- judgmental in my practice. I heavily rely on my ability to listen, understand and stay genuine in every session. If a certain topic is out of my area of expertise I do not hesitate to inform and discuss with my client. I believe empathy, authenticity and strong communication skills also help me be a better professional. My approach to therapy is to keep it simple and collaborative. I use a mix of many modalities and make every effort to tailor the treatment plan based on client's needs.
I find myself excited to work with clients who are motivated to usher change in their lives. Therapy needs patience, ability to introspect and analyze; I enjoy and feel challenged when I work with clients who are interested in dabbling into these areas. I encourage open honest conversation and welcome critical feedback to advance therapeutic alliance. I work well with adult clients who are experiencing anxiety, lack of motivation, low self esteem, life transitions, grief, family conflicts and relationship problems. I stress on compatibility and believe that best results can be achieved if both parties involved are compatible and clear with their expectations.
Cognitive behavioral therapy techniques enable me to actively collaborate with my clients. Cognitive restructuring and behavioral activation helps with identifying and challenging negative thought patterns and then collaboratively developing coping mechanisms.
