Regardless of the psychiatric-mental health need or issue presented, the utmost objective of the PMHNP-BC is to assist the client in coordinating and managing their mental health necessities using the techniques of diagnosis, treatment, and recovery appropriate to the client's culture and developmental stage. Services provided include, but are not limited to, performing an all-inclusive physical and mental health assessment of the client's mental status, history of violence, suicidal or self-harm behavior, substance use, trauma, social and developmental history; psychiatric disorders and treatment by integrating Psychotherapy and Psychopharmacology interventions. As an independent psychiatric nurse practitioner, I am culturally diverse and competent in providing mental health services across the health wellness-illness continuum and lifespan: children, adolescents, adults, and the geriatric population in the community.
Psychotherapy explores thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and seeks to improve an individual’s well-being. Psychotherapy paired with medication is the most effective way to promote recovery.
