Hello! My name's Matt and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor available for teletherapy in New Jersey. I began working in this field 17 years ago and have been practicing for almost 10 years, operating a private practice since January 2023. I've worked with people with many different concerns, with anxiety and depression being by far the most common. In the past, I've worked with all ages from 12 to 83, with the most frequent being those around 18-25. I intentionally keep sessions relaxed, casual, and comfortable. Otherwise, treatment is highly individualized with a limited number of clients seen at any given time. You are not just another appointment spend time and effort getting to know each client to better understand your goals. Sometimes, making the first appointment can be incredibly difficult. We try to make this as easy for you as possible. Thank you and best of luck to you all!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the first session, through conversation explore the reason for coming to therapy, whether it is an immediate problem or an issue you've had for years, and begin by discussing the problem and providing details along the way, or starting "at the beginning" and working through the client's life story. Once the issue is identified, goals can begin to be formulated.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strengths are being completely non-judgemental, regardless of how shocking the revelation may seem, and treating the client with deep empathy and respect. Also, I've been told that I'm "easy going and laid back".

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

This method allows each client's needs to be addressed in the most beneficial manner possible. This method incorporates ideas and techniques from several other methods, applying them appropriately to the client.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

This is a well-known, "gold standard" approach that has been demonstrated to be effective for many people facing many issues. It is one of the most commonly used "go-to" methods.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

A useful approach that many find helpful, mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) has been incorporated into many different disciplines recently. This can be particularly helpful for those with anxiety.
