LMFT, 10 years of experience
My Name is Linda Arroyo, a Marriage and family therapist in California. I am glad you have decided to take the first step in reaching out for support. As a mental health therapist, I understand parenting and or life can get tough, and unexpected life events such as divorce, loss of a loved one, blended families, new environments, etc, can create anxiety, anger, fears, irritability, and depression.
My communication style It is important for you to feel comfortable with me as your therapist as I understand you will be sharing personal life experiences. In order for you to gain insight in therapy you must be willing to share, and receive helpful strategies to improve your mental and emotional state. As my client I expect you to work on yourself outside of therapy and utilize the strategies and coping skills we talk about in session.
I have worked with many different populations over the past 10 years, I look forward to meeting you and assisting you in your journey to healing and moving forward with healthy coping strategies. I am hear to listen to you vent and assist you in changing the behaviors that are no longer working for you.
My approach I use many modalities with my clients, no one client is the same and therefore we decide together what treatment goals are best for you. I specialize in treating anxiety, stress, grief and trauma. If you find yourself having a hard time sorting through your thoughts or feelings, set your appointment today.
CBT is incorporated when clients have a negative outlook in almost all situations, part of this is due to depression, low self-esteem, self-doubt. Focus is to replace negative self-talk with positive empowering statements.
Solution focused therapy is used to assist client with short term goals by exploring positive options and solutions to their challenge rather than focusing on the problem.
Motivational interviewing assist clients in exploring ambivalence, build motivation, set goals, and address resistance. This is used to help clients see that their current situation does not fit with their current values or goals.
EMDR is memory reprocessing. EMDR acknowledges that traumatic memories can get stuck in our minds and bodies resulting in distressing symptoms. This therapy helps process memories reducing their emotional charge and enabling a person to view past experiences from a more balanced calm perspective. 99% of my clients have reported a positive outcome and report "feeling lite".
