I completed my undergraduate studies at William Carey University in Mississippi where I obtained my bachelor’s degree in nursing in 2013. I have since graduated from the University of South Alabama in 2021 with my master’s degree in nursing with a specialty concentration in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I am board certified to evaluate and treat mental health disorders for patients across the lifespan. I have a special interest in Depression, Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, and Substance Abuse Disorder. I utilize my knowledge, clinical skills, and evidence-based practice to establish an effective, patient-centered treatment plan. I am caring and have compassion for others. I am also determined to provide adequate, quality of care for patients with mental health concerns.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
During the first session, I take the time to introduce myself and learn more about your lifestyle and any specific mental health concerns that you may have at that time. It is important to establish a therapeutic relationship and effective communication with you in order to have a trustworthy patient-provider relationship.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
Aa a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I feel my greatest strengths are listening to patients and empathizing with them. It is important to understand how a patient is feeling during their most difficult times. I feel once that you are able to understand your patient, then you are in a better position to be able to provide them with the necessary resources in order to help improve the care of their mental health.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I enjoy working with children, teenagers, adults, and elderly patients.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Therapeutic focus on helping patients understand the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, as well as their actions and behaviors. More emphasis is placed on identifying and modifying distorted thinking pattern. Emphasis is also placed on creating and utilizing better ways to cope with stressors, reduce patient distress, and decrease symptom severity with the ultimate goal to improve overall quality of life.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Therapeutic focus on mindfulness techniques as a way to assist patients with understanding and managing their thoughts and emotions. This technique is designed to reduce patients' distress, decrease symptom severity, and also improve their overall quality of life. Compassionate emphasis is placed on accepting and focusing patients' attention on their experiences within the present moment.
