Hello! My name is Sarah, I am a licensed marriage and family therapist based in San Diego, California. I specialize in working with immigrants and children of immigrants to empower them to overcome the unique challenges of balancing East/West cultural norms. You're the expert of your life, I am here to empower you and offer different perspectives. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Health Sciences from Chapman University, and my Masters of Arts degree in Marital and Family therapy from the University of San Diego. My clinical background includes working with people in outpatient settings and higher levels of care, supporting people in creating a life worth living.
Following a complimentary consultation call, our first session will primarily focus on gathering personal and family history, what your goals are for therapy, and what you see the best version of you doing. Future sessions will be tailored and focused to the goals set in this first appointment.
As a provider, my focus is you! I utilize an empathetic and direct approach to support you. Open communication and trust are essential in the therapeutic relationship, and I pride myself on fostering this.
I enjoy supporting individuals with managing their symptoms of anxiety and depression, coping through life transitions, managing their relationship with food and their body as well as building their self esteem. I am passionate about working with children of immigrants and third-culture kids (TCK). As a TCK myself, I was raised by Lebanese parents in Saudi Arabia, and moved to the United States as an adult.
Using a values-based and culturally sensitive approach to aid you in living a life worth living!
