My name is Victoria Wuest, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in Redding, California, and working with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with children, adolescents, and adults; I specialize in trauma, anxiety, and stress. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-focused CBT, harm reduction, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to help my clients meet their goals and develop skills to help them feel better.
First sessions are an initial contact where we get to know each other. This initial contact is focused primarily on getting to know you, your history, and your mental health needs. I will ask a variety of questions, develop goals, and provide information on the therapeutic process. If you would like clarity on the assessment or therapeutic process this first session is a great time to ask those questions.
I strive to create a warm and engaging environment for my clients. The therapeutic relationship is my highest priority as it is one of the most important components of treatment success. I believe that I create excitement to engage and work collaboratively on client's goals. I seek to meet clients where they are at and not force change to happen when a client is not ready to make these changes. I often use humor, pop culture, and common interests to engage with clients as a strong therapeutic relationship is key in the overall success of therapy.
I found that my style and approach are a good fit for children, adolescents, and adults who may be dealing with a history of trauma, anxiety, and/or stress. I have experience with treating a wide variety of mental health disorders in an outpatient setting. I work well with client's who are engaged in the therapeutic process and seeking to make changes. I appreciate supporting clients make changes in their own ways, as change and what that looks like is unique to each person.
