Many people look at me as a therapist who "keeps it real" and is authentic when working with clients. At intake, I like to explain my therapy style to my clients and attempt to build rapport with them. I provide an open space for clients to be who they are without any judgment. I believe that each client's journey is different; therefore, progress looks different for everyone. To me, a little progress is still progress. I often use CBT techniques with my clients. I am known for empowering my clients to do the best that they are capable of doing and reminding them not to make permanent, impulsive decisions in regard to temporary issues.
I love working with young to middle aged women, who are trying to find their way in life and may be facing obstacles/barriers which hinders their progress. This client population may experience anxiety and depression, feelings of being overwhelmed, and may present with negative coping skills at times when angry or upset.
I have been using CBT in therapy for over 10 years. This method helps clients to challenge their negative thoughts and replace them with positive thoughts, basically looking at things in a different way.
I have been certified in CBT-SP for several years. This method is used in working with clients who have or have had thoughts of suicide. This method helps clients to challenge their negative thoughts and replace them with positive thoughts, basically looking at things in a different way.
I have been a group therapy facilitator for several years. I believe that group therapy is beneficial in helping clients realize that they are not alone or that others are facing similar challenges in their lives. It's a safe space, where clients can share and provide feedback to others.
I am trained in delivering Trauma-informed care. I use this treatment method in working with clients who have ptsd and/or have experienced traumatic events in their lives. This method allows for the client and myself to look at the complete picture of the client's life, including past and present.
