LCSW, 15 years of experience
Greetings! My name is Shantreirra Monroe “Shan” and I am pleased to introduce myself. I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with over 15 years of experience providing counseling and supportive services. I have earned a PhD and Masters degree from Barry University. I have skills in utilizing a variety of tools to help individuals move beyond obstacles, so they can grow and thrive. I understand that life has a way of hitting us with curve balls, beach balls and occasionally hammers. I use a wide range of clinical skills to effectively explore and help clients navigate tough times.
In our first session together, we'll get to know each other, and get right into doing the work! We can go at a pace that fits your comfort level and build from there.
I take pride in getting to know each person. In doing so, it allows me to use a variety of clinical approaches, interventions, and tools based on individualized needs. This may consist of components from mindfulness-based practice, cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-informed techniques, strength-based practice, and person-centered practice, among others.
If you are experiencing stress, depression, worry, relationship issues, or are going through life transitions; I can help! My focus is to assist my clients with achieving goals and improving their quality of life. I believe one of the benefits in life is that we do not have to suffer alone. As your therapist, it would be my pleasure to assist you while using my clinical approaches to fit your needs.
I enjoy working with individuals who are dealing with stressors, life transitions, and those who are just stuck.

I love her approach and calm nature. I do not feel judgement and I feel very comfortable with Shan. I'm really happy I was able to find her and I look forward to what I can gain from her.

Shan understands my experience in this country as a fellow black woman. She has been a guide on dealing with my emotional pain and trauma. When she needs to call me out and help me hold my self accountable she does it in an effective yet gentle way. She doesn’t give false hope. She is realistic with her solutions. Sometimes she recognizes she just needs to be a listening ear.
