I have been working in the field of counseling since 2007. Specialties include: Teenagers and young adults with anxiety, depression, borderline personalities, and LGBTQ+. I enjoy the teenage population because they are the most overlooked. I received my LPC license in 2020 after working in the field for 13 years. I have worked in the field of drug and alcohol, private practice, school settings doing wrap-around, and inpatient settings. In my downtime, I enjoy coaching soccer and reffing, along with many other sports, with my 7 kids and 2 grandbabies.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
Just spending time getting to know each other, building rapport, and learning about the therapeutic process.
What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?
I have an arsenal of tools to use for therapy and operate from an eclectic standpoint. I will use talk therapy, solution-focused techniques, CBT, gestalt, adlerian, narrative therapy, and many more types to help work with the many different issues that can arise. I believe that listening is one of the most powerful tools to use and unconditional positive regard along with positive affirmations. Many individuals just need an empathetic person to listen and not judge and this is one of my most powerful tools.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
Teenagers and young adults are my niche. I specialize in helping people get through their anxiety and depression. I also personally understand the struggles of mental health and how debilitating anxiety and depression can be and choose this to help others push through to find the light in a dark world. Other areas of specialty are borderline personality and conduct order, ODD, and intermittent explosive disorder, along with stress and anger management techniques. Another field of specialty is family therapy and working with the family unit to help bring about positive change.
