Hello, my name is Marcia. I'm a licensed clinical social worker with over 8 years of mental health experience specializing in anxiety and depression. I'm also a retired, disabled veteran with over 30 years of public health experience. It would be a pleasure to meet you. Question: Have you been worried or feeling sad and you can't quite figure out why? Does everyone have an opinion about what's wrong with you and nothing sounds quite right? If you're interested in partnering with a trusted professional to explore your past and present to get to the root of your issues, please contact me. I work to gently ask the right questions and to assist you in looking introspectively to find the root of the issues that may be effecting your life and well-being.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we will get to know one another. I will explain confidentiality and then proceed with a series of questions to learn more about you. You have the opportunity to ask me questions about the therapeutic process and I have the opportunity to ask you about who you are and what brought you to therapy. I'd be most appreciative if you were open and honest because that helps me to build a picture that helps me in developing a treatment plan unique to you. I will explain that we are partners in this journey and I really want to hear from you. You are an important part of this process.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My biggest strengths are my ability to connect with people. As a woman, I'm a nurturer and I want to help and make people feel better. However, I'm never forceful or insistent in my approach. I welcome an equal and insightful partnership. I work closely with people of all genders without prejudice and with hope and dignity. If anyone partners in therapy with me, I make it clear that I'm only licensed to diagnose and treat your mental health condition. I respect the human that sits before me and will show you respect, always. That is my promise to you. We will work together to develop goals and objectives for treatment. I will present you with a treatment plan that we can agree upon and then we will move ahead with treatment being sure to assess our objectives. Partnership is key!

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Provide psychoeducation about Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, explaining the modalities to the client. In each session, I help the client to understand the synthesis or connections among negative thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. We work collectively to construct strategies to challenge negative thoughts in an effort to defeat those thoughts and live a more fulfilling life. CBT can be used to treat symptoms of anxiety, depression (grief), traumatic symptoms, etc.
