(she/her)
Hello, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor from Pennsylvania. I received my Masters from Gannon University and have 9 years of counseling experience. I work with children, adolescents, and young adults who are dealing with anxiety, self harming, depression, low self esteem, life stressors, and relational issues. I have experience and am comfortable working with families in sessions as well.
In the first session we will complete an assessment so that I can get to know what your struggles and goals for therapy are. I will also be able to answer any questions that you have about myself or the therapy process. We will discuss sessions moving forward and how treatment might look as tailored to your needs and goals.
I have experiencing working in the mental health field as various different counselor roles and am able to connect my clients with outside services as well. I meet my clients were they are and help them to create a manageable and individual treatment plan that will guide the treatment process.
I enjoy working with teenagers and young adults who are wanting to be the best version of themselves and are currently experiencing some barriers. My clients pose great personal strengths but lack the skills to overcome their obstacles and cope with distressing situations in a healthy way. They often times struggles with depression, self doubt, anxiety, and dysfunctional relationships.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I am trained and have 9 years experience using CBT as a treatment modality. CBT helps clients to identify negative thinking patterns and replace them with more helpful, positive ones. CBT encourages clients to deal with current problems by breaking them down into smaller parts to improve the way they feel.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I just completed an updated training and am working towards certification. I have 6 years of experience utilizing this treatment method. DBT is used quite often to help clients reduce suicidal and/or self harming behaviors. DBT also helps individuals to improve their quality of life by identifying what's blocking progress towards goals. DBT is used to help individuals learn new skills to replace unhelpful and harmful behaviors.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Mindfulness is integrated into treatment for most clients. Mindfulness teaches individuals how to be in the present moment without judgement and to increase awareness overall. Mindfulness techniques are taught and practiced in session and then clients are encouraged to continue practicing and applying at home.
EMDR
I completed EMDRIA training and have my certification in EMDR. This therapy can be helpful for trauma and also in dealing with ongoing issues of anxiety and depression.
