Hi ! I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor and Nationally Certified Counselor based in Virginia. I received my Masters from Northwestern University and have been practicing for 7 years. I help people who have been stuck and struggling with various challenges from anxiety, trauma and abuse, stress, work and life issues, relationship issues, depression and more to overcome and truly be set free.
In our first session together, we’ll start with brief introductions then dive into the specific issues you’re facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
Over the past 8 years, I’ve developed tried and true methods for helping you (a) identify the root cause of your challenges and (b) create a tailored plan that leads to measurable progress.
Nefertari Britto offers therapy covered by Kaiser Permanente - Medicaid and UnitedHealthcare/Optum - Medicaid in Virginia.
I believe that everyone is unique with a diverse set of needs. I use a holistic, total person approach utilizing treatment tailored to your specific needs. I believe there is no one size fits all and I enjoy meeting you with your unique personality in an empowering, nonjudgmental environment to finally help you get set free.
I enjoy using CBT to help get rid of "Stinking Thinking". With CBT, we are able to explore bullying thoughts that continuously keep you stuck and unable to move forward and challenge what is false with what is real. CBT helps with challenging unwanted thoughts that you may find plaguing you with doubts, worries, fears and hesitation towards thinking more logically, reasonably and factually to gain true peace of mind with seeing the world more clearly.
I also use the Psychodynamic approach of treatment to help people struggling mentally and emotionally by looking at their unconscious conflicts and the impact of the past on your present at your own pace. Everyone has their own journey in life, events and experiences that are uniquely your own and exploring these aspects of who you are and the reasoning behind what may have brought you to this place in life. I believe that understanding the root of your issues, recognizing behaviors for what they are can help with build healthy coping mechanisms. I believe in self-compassion and understanding with uncovering the answers of why we do what we do, tying past events and subconscious constructs into present behaviors and behavior patterns can truly help you finally be set free.
