Hello! I’m a Peruvian-American, bilingual, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). I've been having conversations with people in a therapeutic context for over 5 years. I center values of dignity, justice, cultural respect, and solidarity in the work that I do. I approach conversations through a Narrative Therapy lens and I have extensive training in this way of working.
I would like to know about who you are apart from the challenges that bring you to therapy. I think it is critically important to learn about your values, your hopes, dreams, and things that you done already to create the type of life you want to live.
Curiosity, laughter, and an unwavering belief in your ability gain influence over the distressing things occuring in your life.
I believe therapy is an experience of co-constructing preferred ways of being in life. I center you as the expert of your own life, which means that our conversations will include a lot of questions from me and very little advice/directives.
“Narrative therapy seeks to be a respectful, non-blaming approach to counseling and community work which centers people as the experts in their own lives. It views problems as separate from people and assumes people have many skills, competencies, beliefs, values, commitments and abilities that will assist them to reduce the influence of problems in their lives.” -Dulwich Centre
