Shannon Casey
I believe in meeting people where they are, perpetuating meaningful and supportive connection. My specialty includes working with individuals/families that have experienced emotional and physical abandonment and/or are healing from narcissistic abuse in either parental/romantic/sibling relationships.
Areas of interest include: survivors of intimate partner violence (IPV) and partners who have acted harmfully in relationships, mood disorders, substance use and co-occurring disorders.
In addition, I work with individuals who are struggling with the following: mood disorders, personality disorders, intimate partner violence, as well as those who have caused harm in relationships, post-traumatic stress disorder, ADHD, betrayal trauma, and substance use disorder. My approach is grounded in trauma-informed care, meaning that I prioritize a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment for my clients to explore and process their experiences. I have extensive experience working with individuals who have experienced abuse, neglect, and trauma, in addition to the consequences of that trauma.
First session
I will help you understand your specific trauma responses and how to change them. My goal is to support you in making changes in your life that will lead to positive outcomes and a fulfilling life. It is an honor to be invited into my clients' lives and to work alongside them on their path to greater well-being. With a focus on root causes, not just symptoms, I foster genuine deep healing and understanding.
Strengths
I believe in individualized healing; that no two people are the same, but we learn from each other’s stories. We will work together to determine what works best for you to enhance your quality of life, health, and wellness. I have worked in many varied settings and with many different populations, including individuals with substance use and co-occurring disorders, survivors of interpersonal violence, trauma, PTSD, personality disorders, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, etc. I believe in trauma-informed treatment and affirming all identities, including LGBTQ+. I am experienced in working with both survivors and partners who have caused harm. I hold my clients’ stories with warmth and empathy as we process through pain and move towards healing.
