Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Your first session with me is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building a foundation of trust and understanding. My primary goal is to create a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you feel comfortable sharing your story.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

As an LCSW and therapist, I bring a combination of empathy, cultural sensitivity, and a client-centered approach to my practice. I believe that effective therapy is rooted in genuine connection, respect, and a deep understanding of each client’s unique experiences.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am best positioned to serve individuals who are seeking a compassionate, understanding, and culturally sensitive therapeutic space. My clients are often individuals navigating complex personal and systemic challenges, including anxiety, relationship issues, boundary-setting, communication difficulties, self-worth struggles, and the impacts of trauma.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to help clients identify and challenge negative or distorted thinking patterns that contribute to their emotional distress. Through collaborative discussions and exercises, clients learn to recognize automatic thoughts, cognitive distortions, and core beliefs that may be holding them back. This awareness is the first step toward change.

Trauma-Focused CBT

The foundation of TF-CBT in my practice is establishing a safe, trusting, and culturally sensitive therapeutic environment. I prioritize building a strong therapeutic alliance with clients, validating their experiences, and ensuring they feel heard and supported throughout the process. This safe space is crucial for trauma work, as it allows clients to explore difficult emotions and memories without fear of judgment.

Strength-Based

I begin by helping clients identify their strengths, past successes, and instances of resilience. We explore times when they have navigated difficult situations, drawing out the skills and qualities that helped them persevere. This process not only builds confidence but also serves as a reminder that they have the capacity to handle current challenges.

Positive Psychology

One of the key aspects of positive psychology I use is helping clients cultivate positive emotions, such as joy, gratitude, and hope. I encourage clients to engage in gratitude journaling, mindfulness exercises, or reflective practices that help them focus on positive experiences in their lives. This shift in focus can enhance mood, build resilience, and create a greater sense of overall well-being.

Jamie has been my therapist for over a year now and I appreciate her kindness and authenticity. The growth I’ve seen in myself, is amazing. Jamie has been great support through some of the hardest times of my life and even discussing my childhood, she has given me the tools to process and react in ways I personally never thought I could.

Jamie is kind and has allowed me to process and work through the things that are on my mind, at my own pace which I appreciate. She has helped me tremendously with working through past relationship struggles and has helped me reach goals I wanted to achieve.
