Hi! My name is Stephanie Olano...and I'm a nerdy, awkward, Latinx mental health therapist and ally. I was born and raised in the Bay Area, San Francisco, CA. I help people to live an unapologetically authentic life & own it. My focus is on providing a culturally responsive and compassionate approach.  I stay up-to-date with the latest research and trends in Latinx mental health and actively seek to promote cultural humility and sensitivity in my practice. I offer online therapy sessions, so I can work with anyone in California! I provide a safe and inclusive place to talk about topics vital to you. If you think that any of these might be true of you... You're struggling with burnout, or think you might be. You're having a hard time adjusting to a new job or academic setting. You often ask yourself, "do I belong here?" or "am I doing enough?" You're not sure what your identity is outside of work or school. You're feeling disconnected from your family/community? I primarily work with BIPOC and Latinx folx, young professionals struggling with work stress, perfectionism, and imposter syndrome, and bi-cultural college students. Many of my clients are working through anxiety, depression, or highly stressful or traumatic experiences. I also help clients address stress related to racist and/or oppressive environments and those who have financial trauma. I frequently use feminist psychology, anti-racist interventions, and strategies, trauma-informed coping skills, and overall take a decolonized approach to mental health.  Schedule a free 15-minute consultation call with me for more information to see how I can help you. Remember, you are not alone.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I also incorporate the following evidence-based practices in my sessions: 1) cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), 2) practical mindfulness strategies, 3) existential/humanistic perspective 4) decolonized and anti-racist interventions and 5) somatic approach. But I'm also not a disciple of these models.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Because I consider myself a pop culture nerd, I try to utilize my knowledge of music, tv, social media, etc., during my therapy sessions. I have found that it’s been helpful to understand and build trust with my clients. I think it’s fascinating when they show me any form of media my client deems essential (this may or may not include TikTok). I find talking about pop culture allows my client to open up about their interests and passions.
