New to Grow
My name is Georgia Simms, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with 6 years of experience providing mental health therapy to children, adoloscents, adults and older adults experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, anger issues and other mental health concerns. During my practice, I provides a warm, supportive and nonjudgemental environment for space for healing and growth. Using a strength based approach, active listening, and evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness-Based Therapy, I help clients build resilience, overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
The first session is to establish therapeutic rapport. We will discuss what brings you to therpay, your goals, and any concerns that you may have. I'll answer your questions and work with you to develop a plan that support your needs. I want you to feel comfortable and supported throughout the process.
One of the greatest strengths I bring to my sessions is active listening. I strive to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgemental environment where individuals feel genuinely heard and understood. I also use strength-based approach, believing that every individual possesses unique abilities, resilience, and personal strengths that can help them navigate life's challenges. Rather than focusing solely on problems, I work collaboratively with clients to identify and build upon their existing strengths, emowering them to achieve their goals and create meaningful change in their lives.
I enjoy working with individuals who value a collaborative, compassionate therapeutic relationship. My dream clients are people who are overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, stress, life transitions, self-doubt or relationship challenges but are motivated to explore new perspectives and develop healthy ways of coping. I strive to provide a supportive, nonjudgemental space where clients can feel heard, understood and empowered.

I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) into my practice to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I use CBT collaboratively, helping clients identify unhelpful thinking patterns, challenge beliefs that may be contributing to distress and or negative emotions and develop healthier, more balanced ways of responding to life challenges.
In my practice, I incorporate mindfulness techniques such as breathing exercises, grounding strategies, body awareness, and guided meditation practices to help clients manage stress, anxiety, depression, and emotional overwhelm.
Rather than directing clients toward a specific outcome, I work alongside them to explore both challenges they face and the strengths they already possess. Through reflective listening, open-ended questions, affirmations, and collaborative goal setting, I help clients build confidence in their ability to make positive, lasting changes.
Play therapy is a developmentally appropriate, evidence -based approach that helps children express their thoughts, feelings, and experiences through play, which is their natural language of communication. I use play therapy to create a safe, supportive environment where children can process emotions, build coping skills, improve problem-solving abilities, and strengthen their sense of self.
In my practice, I work collaboratively with clients to recognize their existing skills, celebrate progress, and develop confidence in their ability to overcome obstacles. By highlighting what is already working and fostering hope, I help clients build resilience, enhance self-esteem, and develop practical strategies for navigating life's challenges.
