I was inspired to become a therapist as a young child, with the value of wanting to help others. I realized I wanted to help people believe in themselves and to see their own possibilities. Validation is one of the most important tools I value as a therapist and as a person. I teach clients to self validate, to know what you experienced is true and real. I value the process of creating this safe space where one can see themselves just as they are. I ask for feedback to see if how I respond through validation fits for the client, if they felt heard and validated.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I tend to follow a consistent pattern in each session. I have a beginning, middle and end to every session. The beginning can be more of a welcoming and social experience. The middle can be sharing and revealing the deeper part of a person and what they are going through. This can feel emotional and intense at times. The end, is closure. I will help a client have some closure at the end of every session. I talk to the client about next steps, how will you spend the time after the session, and confirm when we will meet next.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I use techniques to break down a more complicated issue or challenge into steps. These steps give clients strategies to make their life better, more fulfilled and to experience more joy in their relationships with others and in life. Clients can be overwhelmed by internal conflict and external conflict with others. I definitely have a talent to guide clients through these waters.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I love guiding clients in navigating relationships, both present and past. My clients are eager to learn about how they learned to relate to others as a child, and the patterns of relating to others in their current life. My clients like to explore these patterns in their family, partners, and work relationships. I enjoy being part of the clients journey in their personal growth.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is an evidence-based approach that I use to help clients identify and restructure ineffective thoughts, while also exploring how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected. Through this process, I support clients in gaining awareness of their patterns of thinking, allowing them to make meaningful changes and achieve personal growth.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I am trained in individual DBT and skills groups. DBT combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness and acceptance strategies, making it effective for those dealing with emotional dysregulation (high emotions), those who need skill development , and challenges in managing relationships.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I am trained in MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction. Gaining awareness of the present moment can help client achieve the change they are seeking. I believe awareness is the key to all change.
