(she/her)
With 20 years of experience as a medical social worker, hospice care and hospital settings, I have had the honor of supporting clients from diverse cultural backgrounds. As an immigrant myself who has navigated my own grief journey, I bring a personal understanding to my work. Holding a PhD in cultural anthropology enriches my awareness of how culture shapes the experience of loss and healing. I’m especially passionate about providing grief therapy to immigrants, recognizing how physical distance from loved ones can complicate grief. My approach is compassionate, culturally sensitive, and grounded in both professional expertise and lived experience.
My goal in the first session is to listen carefully to the client’s reasons for seeking therapy, understand their perspective on the help they hope to receive, and clarify their expectations. I also see this initial visit as an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building a trusting therapeutic relationship.
I use a variety of therapeutic modalities because each client is unique, and one approach does not fit all. With extensive experience supporting grief and life transitions—gained through 11 years in hospice care and 14 years in hospital settings—I have seen firsthand how life changes impact people. As a bilingual Spanish-English speaker, I am able to provide compassionate support to a diverse range of clients, helping them navigate and adapt to these changes.
My goal is to help people better understand life transitions and how they impact mental health. I work with clients from diverse backgrounds, including immigrants and older adults coping with loss. Using approaches like grief therapy, narrative therapy, and CBT, I support clients as they navigate change and work toward greater emotional well-being
I use a narrative approach to help clients make sense of their experiences by exploring the stories they tell about themselves. Together, we look at what’s been shaping those stories and work to rewrite them in ways that feel more empowering and true to who they are.
I provide compassionate grief therapy to support clients navigating loss, including the unique challenges of transnational grief. Through gentle guidance, I help clients process emotions, find meaning, and adjust to life after loss, no matter where they are or where their loved ones are.
I am committed to providing culturally sensitive therapy that honors each client’s unique background and experiences. By embracing diversity and exploring cultural influences, I help clients feel understood and supported as they work toward their goals.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors. This practical, goal-oriented approach supports clients in managing challenges like anxiety, depression, and stress to improve their overall well-being.
