Hi, Toyin is a regular person like you and she is a Licensed Professional Counselor based in New Jersey. I studied Counseling Psychology(M Ed) in University of Ibadan, Nigeria, and Clinical Mental Health Counseling (M.A) and Ed.S in Rider University, Lawrenceville in NJ. I have about 10 years of counseling experience and I support my adults clients in regaining their wellness through teletherapy. My clients usually enjoy the freedom to explore their concerns with me without them feeling being judged. The clients I work with have the opportunity to narrate their experiences and retell their stories while in session. I create an environment to thrive for my clients, which makes our working together on life issues become easier than they expected. Wellness begins when you connect and work with Toyin. What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session, we will build our therapeutic alliance in making you feel comfortable to communicate your concerns, which will guide us in understanding your treatment expectations. This in turn makes the follow up session easy and you will be more confident in determining your goals.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have over 10 years experience working in the mental health field. I am Certified in providing Telemental Health, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Clinical Trauma which gives an opportunity to provide treatment with evidence-based interventions and I collaboratively work with my clients in discovering their strengths while managing their thoughts, emotions and other issues. I incorporate workable assessments and techniques that will promote your wellness.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have been applying CBT in helping adult clients who were experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, self-esteem, anger, trauma for about 7 years and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy has been one of the effective treatment strategies that I incorporate into my client's care. This tool analyzes the way people's thinking patterns contribute to their feelings (emotions) and behaviors (actions). In managing your mental health-related issues, you are the best person to narrate your experiences and determine how you want to be cared for. If CBT would meet your treatment expectations, we will collaboratively review the approach to determine what works for you in managing anger, anxiety, depression and grief and trauma-related issues.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I am a Certified DBT provider and I have incorporated Dialectical Behavioral Therapy in my treatment approach for about 5 years. This approach has been useful in supporting my clients to manage their emotional instability such as trauma , grief, depression, anxiety, life transition, self-esteem and coping skills. We will work together to understand the dialectics and how these will promote your courage towards regaining your wellness.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

ACT has been utilized as part of my treatment interventions for 4 years and it was explored with my clients in managing their thoughts, emotions while ensuring their commitment towards facing their challenges and integrating their strengths into the process of accepting the change while making healthy choices for improvement. We will explore the ACT techniques in helping you understand your values, strengths and prospects. ACT will assist your ability to develop robust strategies in managing self-care issues, depression, anxiety, life transition, anger, trauma and grief.

Positive Psychology

I have been using Positive Psychology in my practice for 5 years and this has helped my clients in navigating their mental health issues. This approach will be used in our sessions to develop your positivity, enhance your perceptual ability and discover your attributes while managing uneasy feelings of depression, anxiety, anger and other emotional issues. We will identify the effects of negativity on your mental health and you will realize your strengths and focus more on the effective quality of life while achieving your goals.

Trauma Informed Care

I am Certified as a Clinical Trauma Provider and treating my client's traumatic experiences have given me the opportunity to meet my clients where they are. We will ensure that you safely discover that you are welcome to share your traumatic experiences in a non-judgmental therapeutic environment while supporting you to thrive in resiliency with who you are. You will be able to calmly process your traumatic triggers and will not avoid them any longer.
