My name is Ro and I am a white queer non-binary Ashkenazi Jewish somatic therapist and artist. Consent, harm reduction, and the abolition of police and prisons are important to me, and I strive to practice in ways that are honest and aligned with my values. A sense of humor is also essential to me in healing work-- I believe in making room to go deep as well as to have fun in therapy. I have experience working with folks who experience depression, self-harm, relationship issues, break-ups, trauma, and anxiety. I love working with adults, teens, families, queers, and creatives. Right now, I am only seeing clients on Telehealth.

In both my personal life and professional experience I have come to understand the struggle of when life gets so overwhelming that you know something needs to change, if only you knew where to start. It can be scary and disempowering but with guidance it’s possible to make changes that will feel exciting and empowering. I am skilled working with teens and young adults who are just starting to explore themselves and their place in the world, women, men and families navigating changes (becoming parents, parenting support, fertility struggles and adjusting to their new roles, etc), spiritual exploration, adjusting to life changes, managing interpersonal relationships, managing the expectations you’ve set for yourself and finding who you want to be when you grow up. It’s so easy to think that we’re stuck in the situations we find ourselves in but I promise you that you can rewrite your story. Our time together will be an hour in your week where you can drop your mask in a safe space without fear of judgment. By allowing yourself to feel all your feelings we can break down whatever is holding you back to help you to build confidence, find clarity and the direction you’ve been searching for. I’m excited for us to get started.

Are you wondering if your drug or alcohol use is becoming a problem? Maybe you know that it is a problem, but feel powerless to stop. Perhaps your struggle looks different—binge eating, compulsive spending, sabotaging your success at work or in relationships. These self-destructive patterns can take many forms, but they often have one thing in common: they feel automatic, inescapable, and deeply frustrating. These behaviors may seem like choices, but they often serve a hidden purpose—keeping you safe in the familiar, avoiding painful emotions, or preserving a status quo that no longer serves you. Over time, they can trap you in cycles of shame, regret, and hopelessness.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of New York and Indiana. I have a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University-Los Angeles. Previously, I had a 30 year career in the Film & Television industry. My passions were, the Film business & Psychology. I said to myself, the day I become disinterested in the Film business, I'll go to graduate school, get my degree in psychology and become a psychotherapist. That day came and here I am. I have been practicing since 2009.

I’m a warm, insight-oriented therapist who offers a steady, compassionate space for adults navigating grief, relational wounds, and the impact of growing up around emotional chaos or inconsistency. My approach is grounded in deep listening and curiosity—I help clients slow down and make sense of their inner experience, uncovering patterns that may have once been protective but now feel limiting. Together, we create room for new ways of relating—to yourself, to others, and to your story. Healing, in my work, begins with being deeply seen and understood.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who is skilled in numerous modalities that includes both EMDR and sensorimotor therapies. My specialties go to the root of the problem and finds the silver thread or in therapeutic terms the neurobiological network that connects the negative beliefs inherent in all the trauma the patient experienced. In addition to my trauma training I earned my RPT (registered play therapist) and I have extensive knowledge of child development and counseling children and adolescents. I am willing to counsel adolescents online but children younger than 12 must be seen in person.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by New York rather than a city like New York City?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across New York from Buffalo to Rochester! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in New York.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

What are the "Clients say I'm" badges?

Grow Therapy asks patients about their experience with therapists after they have had a certain number of sessions. After enough responses, we add those characteristics to their profiles to help you find the best online therapists for you. We're still working on collecting this information from all our therapists.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
