I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of California, #141160, since September 2023. I achieved a Master of Science in Psychology from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona in 2019 and before that, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona in 2017. I have been working professionally as a therapist for individuals, couples, children, teens, and families, since 2018. I have a passion for working with relationship issues and stress.
The first session is different than the other sessions. The first session is spent going over paperwork and policies about how therapy works, talking about presenting problems and deciding on a billable diagnosis if you are using insurance, and creating treatment plan goals for what you would like to get out of therapy, as well as getting to know each other to see if we are a good fit for the work together. In subsequent sessions I like to let the client lead and discuss what they feel is most relevant for them at that time and ask any questions they have so I can offer any information or skills that might be helpful.
I will listen to you non-judgmentally to figure out where your stress is coming from and I will share any insights or ideas with you, but you will always be in control of your therapy. I will listen to you in an effort to understand you, where you are coming from, and any repeating patterns. I can offer alternative ways of managing triggers, stressors, and emotions, as well as to help you clarify what it is that you want for yourself.
I like working with anyone who is experiencing stresses or difficulties and is considering working toward doing things differently and having a better life. I can provide a supportive listening ear to help you process your emotions and give you a space to make decisions for changes you would like to make in your life.
I have been helping folks with stresses of life since 2018 using strategies from many different approaches, including humanistic and solution-focused therapy, IFS, motivational interviewing, CBT, DBT, and psychodynamic theory. I am EMDR trained and I have completed a few different DBT certification courses in the past.
