Hello, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and PsyD; I have been practicing in the field since 2012. I have worked as a therapist in institutional and private settings helping individuals to cope with anxiety, depression, anger management, parenting issues, relationship problems, previous traumas including intergenerational trauma, parenting issues, and various adjustment difficulties and life challenges. I enjoy working with my clients to change the way they respond to life's stresses and believe that adjusting one's perspective can increase happiness, success, and relationship satisfaction.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Therapy sessions are focused on providing support and increasing insight. I enjoy working collaboratively with my clients to identify patterns of thinking and behaving that contribute to immediate and long-standing problems. First sessions are used to identify if the client and I are a good fit for therapy, and to establish treatment goals.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My approach is warm, validating, and direct; I emphasize the importance of personal responsibility and focusing on the here and now to effect change. I believe therapy is an amazing investment into one's health and happiness and consider it a shared journey, with the focus being on the client. I strive to provide a safe and non-judgmental space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and past/present experiences. I enjoy utilizing a psychodynamic, as well as solutions focused approach during therapy sessions. I utilize a variety of therapeutic approaches in an eclectic fashion: CBT, DBT, narrative therapy, solutions-focused therapy, attachment-based, as well as motivational interviewing, and life coaching strategies. I actively work to elicit feedback throughout the treatment process, and pay close attention to process within the therapeutic relationship.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I enjoy working with adult professionals, college students, young adults, parents, military, first responders, and correctional personnel.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I use ACT strategies to help clients acknowledge and accept their full range of emotions. Emotions are not harmful, but the avoidance or denial of them can adversely affect functioning.

Attachment-based

I enjoy exploring the nature of my client's primary attachments. By developing insight into our style of attachment and how that affects our current relationships, we can consciously work to develop more secure attachments and satisfying relationships.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Through exploring thoughts and beliefs about problems, I help my client identify and challenge dysfunctional thinking patterns that contribute to feelings and behaviors. I believe that by adopting and implementing new patterns of thinking, we can change the way we feel and behave.

Compassion Focused

Shame and self-loathing are powerful forces that can significantly impede our self growth and fulfillment. I actively encourage self-compassion as a means of progressing towards treatment goals.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I enjoy employing a solutions focused line of questioning in order to identify specific problems. Essentially, this approach can lend it's self to an effective intervention in one session. While there are many benefits to be had from longer term therapy, at times one session with a solution focused approach can help individuals clarify a problem and build insight into how it might be resolved.
