Hi! I am a Licensed Cliniclal Social Worker (LCSW) and a Licensed Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC). I am licensed in New Jersey. I have been practicing for 17 years. I graduated from Fordham University. I have a B.A. in education from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Before becoming a social worker, I taught for many years as an elementary school teacher.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the first session I will be present with you and give you my undivided attention. I will do an intake and get some basic background information and then we'll discuss what your goals are. We'll discuss what is working in your life and what you'd like to tweak. I'll ask you about your strengths and how they can be used to regain and maintain life's balance while helping you to reach your goals.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I taught for many years and that gave me hands on experience with working with children and adolescents. As a teacher, I had to be creative. I think that I'm still creative and come up with ideas to help my clients. During my years of being a teacher, my internships and my work as a social worker, I've dealt with many different types of people and leanrt from them as they have learnt from me. I love learning from my clients. I enjoy reading and learning new things and giving over this knowledge to my clients when appropriate.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I love working with all my clients. With school age children, I can help them with any academic issues and their parents with any parenting issues. I assist adolescents with issues related to school, peers, relationships and family. I work with adults of all ages as well as couples and families. Some of the specialities I work with are: anxiety, depression, relational issues, careers, stress and addiction.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

This type of therapy often helps people understand how their thinking affects many aspects of their life and by changing their thinking those aspects can improve. Giving "homework" in conjunction with the session has proven to be extremely helpful.

Eclectic

I am always learning new information and techniques and look forward to helping my clients with them. By being open to new knowledge and techniques, I am able to help people move forward rather than perhaps getting "stuck" in a particular method of therapy.

Couples Counseling

I have been working with couples and the many facets of their relationships for 17 years. I find it of utmost importance to hear each partner's perspectives.

Polyvagal Therapy

I find that this method assists the client with their emotions. On a regular basis, I discuss the client's real life experiences and work with Polyvagal therapy to show him/her how he/she can feel better.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

This method of therapy assists the client in gaining empowerment in their life. As prescribed by this method, there is "homework" based on the skills learned.
