About me

Hi there. I’m Clarissa, a licensed clinical social worker based in California. I received my Masters Degree from Cal State Sacramento with 8 years of experience. I have had the privilege of working with both minors and adults, those with acculturation conflict and generational trauma, those experiencing acute mental health crisis or life transitions, and those personally or know of loved ones struggling with addiction. All with the common theme of making a conscious decision to take back control.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session will be intended to establish the foundation for our ongoing sessions, create a safe space, and have a better understanding for your reason for seeking therapy. I will assess your readiness and collaborate with you to create a plan.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Having been a therapist working with adults for the past 8 years, I believe each person is unique and an expert to themselves. This is my foundation to forming working relationship with my clients and perfected my approach to identifying stressors and create a sustainable plan.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am passionate working with a wide range of adults who struggle with intergenerational trauma or acculturation conflict, parenting issues, or life transitions. My clients are excited for change but need help identifying helpful tools.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

This approach is most commonly applied throughout my practice, to help individuals identify their thought process, how it impacts their behaviors, and foster change.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

This approach allows individuals to practice the stillness and silence, some find this more difficult than others and others aren’t interested at all. I have used this with both minors and adults who experience challenges with lack of control and symptoms of anxiety and depression.

Motivational Interviewing

I have used this approach since the beginning of my practice as I enjoy helping individuals identify their internal motivation and best version of ourselves. Changing a pattern or perspective starts with finding the purpose to keep going when roadblocks surface.

I am really enjoying my sessions with Clarissa. She is honest, goal-oriented, informed and intelligent. She knows when to challenge me, and also listens and retains information and draws on that to make insightful observations. I am happy to have found her.

Clarissa genuinely cares about her clients and it shows. She does not only get to know you as a therapist but as a person because she understands that people are multifaceted. As for her therapy style, she isn't just solution oriented but helps you take mini steps toward an actual solution (i.e focusing first on how you can recognize and regulate how you feel) before tackling the problem. Clarissa helps guide you toward the tools you need to take care of yourself. She is truly a cheerleader.
