Hi, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Pennsylvania and I am also Nationally Certified. I went to the University of Pittsburgh for my undergraduate degree in Psychology and then the Indiana University of Pennsylvania for my Master's in Community Counseling. I would describe myself as creative, flexible, and interested in lifelong learning. I have over 16 years of experience helping people with anxiety, depression, and co-occurring disorders in a variety of community settings.
In our first session, we'll do introductions and a brief history so I have a better understanding of how I can help. We'll establish some short and long term goals for our time together as we talk about what brings you to counseling and how it will progress. I always allow time for any question you may have and give opportunities for you to address any concerns you may have.
I feel my greatest strengths as a therapist are my compassion and empathy.
I like helping people discover their strengths and using them to improve their lives. Taking the time to ask questions, getting to know each other, and building a trusting relationship is important to me. I believe in setting goals collaboratively. I want to make sure you are getting what you need out of your therapy experience.
I use CBT in sessions frequently. I believe connecting your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are key in figuring out how to change negative self talk, which improves self esteem. When you like yourself it's easier to connect with people and have successful relationships.
Many clients describe me as kind and compassionate. A person centered approach helps people feel comfortable. Sharing your thoughts and feelings isn't easy, but hopefully you will feel heard and accepted during our sessions. I take time to get to know you as an individual so that we can build on your strengths and what you're already doing well.
