I am Cyndi Horwitz, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I received my Master of Science in Psychology with an emphasis in Marital in Family Therapy from the University of Southern California and have been working as a Licensed Therapist since 2007. I am trained to work with all aspects of interpersonal relationships. I provide therapy services to teens, young adults and adult clients. My practice is dedicated to providing a thoughtful and compassionate setting for clients to find more effective ways to address issues and concerns that are negatively impacting their lives. I carefully weave together elements from my personal background, theoretical approach, advanced training in trauma, and yogic philosophy to create a unique and customized therapeutic experience for each client. Together we will address emotional challenges related to past traumas, anxiety, sadness and depression, feelings of being overwhelmed, stuck or hopeless, identity development and relationship struggles to create balance and wellness. The therapeutic journey is one of courage, hope, self- care, and self-determination and I am here to help.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Through research and my experience as a practitioner, I’ve witnessed first-hand how emotional issues frequently manifest as physical symptoms. That’s why I pay close attention to the mind-body connection. By listening to the body we can have a deeper understanding of how feelings and thoughts affect physical and emotional health. With this new knowledge, it’s easier to change our behavior to get what we want out of our experience.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I utilize a Mind-Body Psychotherapy approach, by exploring the connection between the emotional , physical, and spiritual self .In sessions, I focus on aspects traditional psychotherapy such as life history and current stressors by integrating techniques such as mindfulness, yoga therapy, meditation, mantra and guided imagery. These techniques can provide insight and healing into a variety of mental conditions including stress, depression, anxiety, grief and trauma.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Mindfulness has be proven to reduce anxiety, manage mood, and help individuals feel more present with others. Mindfulness invites healing, growth, and lasting positive change. Exploring and processing difficult experiences become less frightening or overwhelming. When practicing mindfulness, you may be more open to considering alternative attitudes and ways of being that will help you reach your goals.
