Hey there, I'm Lainey! I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Eating Disorder Specialist, and a Certified Body Trust® Provider. More importantly, I am a human who believes you deserve to feel entirely safe and at home in your own skin. So many of my clients come to me completely exhausted by their own minds. They are stuck in loops where they constantly wonder why past pain is still impacting them today. It often feels like a constant state of hypervigilance, like bracing for a worst-case scenario over a simple missed phone call on a random Tuesday. If you are living in that constant state of high alert, you don't have to navigate it alone. If you are tired of surviving body shame, trauma responses, or neurodivergent burnout, please know you aren’t broken. My style is deeply warm, authentic, and passionate. I don't operate in rigid, black-and-white extremes. Instead, I live comfortably, and sometimes painfully, in the gray. In our space, you can drop the armor. We move away from judgment so you can return to trust, balance, and core self-compassion.
Stepping into a first therapy session takes immense courage, so my highest priority is creating an environment where you feel safe and heard. We will focus entirely on getting to know one another at a pace that feels comfortable for you. We will gather some light background information, but we will spend the majority of our time discussing what you hope to get out of therapy. We can also talk through any reservations or anxieties you might have about the process. There is no pressure to have it all figured out on day one. Before we wrap up, we will collaborate on a loose, flexible outline for our upcoming sessions. This ensures you walk away knowing exactly what to expect next, keeping you fully in the driver’s seat of your own healing journey.
My approach stands out because I refuse to stop at bandaging surface-level symptoms. We will look at the whole ecosystem of your life. Together, we'll explore how cultural systems, old family narratives, and core values keep tearing you back down. In our sessions, I bring deep curiosity, compassion, and a gentle push to dig deeper. When an old behavioral loop or a harsh inner critic shows up, I will ask you: 'Who does that sound like to you? Is that your voice, or someone else’s?' We look at the larger cultural systems around you and ask who is profiting off of you feeling or acting this way. We shift away from automatic self-blame Instead, we look at how you internalized those messages in the first place. I walk right alongside you to encourage a shift toward the gray areas of life. My goal is to help you become more curious and less judgmental about your unique essence. Part of that means bridging the gap between mind and body, helping you reject shame so you can safely tune back into your body's physical wisdom. I welcome your full, authentic self into our space, including the messiness and the hesitations. Together, we will rewrite the old survival stories and build a path toward genuine, deep-seated liberation.
I am best positioned to serve adults who feel trapped by a loud inner critic. My ideal clients are tired of feeling like their mind and body are constantly at war. You might be navigating body image distress, trauma, or the daily exhaustion of feeling like your brain and identity don't fit into standard societal boxes. Whether you are highly motivated for change right now, or feeling hesitant and protective of your current coping mechanisms, you are welcome here. I specialize in working with individuals who are ready to look below the surface. We will explore the deeper "why" behind your pain and question the external systems that told them that you weren't enough. If you are ready to be more curious and less judgmental about the things that make you uniquely yourself, you are in the right place. I am a therapist who will fiercely respect your autonomy while helping you connect with your deeper core-soul self. We are going to do incredible work together.
Other specialties
I identify as
Eclectic
I view therapy like looking at an iceberg, where we go beneath surface-level symptoms to explore the whole ecosystem of your life. Because no two people heal the same way, I use an eclectic approach that blends specialized clinical expertise with creative flexibility. I pull intuitively from Internal Family Systems (IFS) to extend compassion to the protective parts of you keeping you in old loops, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to anchor you in your actual values, and Somatic practices to reconnect you with your body’s wisdom. This fluid approach allows us to step away from rigid, black-and-white extremes and work dynamically in the gray areas, adapting your care as you grow and evolve.
Cognitive Processing (CPT)
When navigating trauma or PTSD, the aftermath can leave you feeling completely stuck in old survival stories, constantly bracing for worst-case scenarios. For clients seeking a focused path forward, I offer Cognitive Processing Therapy. CPT is a highly structured, evidence-based approach that helps us examine how a traumatic event altered your beliefs about safety, trust, control, esteem, and intimacy. Using deep curiosity and gentle Socratic questioning, I walk right alongside you to help you identify and challenge the "stuck points" and automatic self-blame that keep tearing you back down. It is a powerful, supportive tool for unearthing the root of your pain, dismantling old narratives, and safely reclaiming your personal power.
