Edith Amadi, I have a doctorate degree in health administration, and a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Specialty, practicing since 2022. I am a mom with 4 young adults.
I am optimistic and positive towards life and health.
First session
I usually start my session by introducing myself and getting to know more about my clients and their goals for the day. I also inquire about their safety, needs, concerns, and any other concerns that enable me to seek ways and strategies that I could apply to meet with their needs during the session. I educate and reassure my patients about the safety and privacy of their information in Telehealth and note transcription. I encourage my patients to share their therapeutic goal for seeking treatment to ensure we collaborate and work towards same goal and outcome.
Strengths
My ability to use my therapeutic connection, calmness, empathy, listening, respectful approach to acknowledge clients' concerns without judgement is part of my strength. I give extra resources by supporting my clients with psychoeducation and guiding them with CBT, mindfulness, stress management, supportive motivational interview, and encouraging positive mindset therapy to reduce stress, anxiety, and insomnia while improving their mood and quality of life. I also review clients for compliance issues, management of medication doses and side effects, and adverse reactions. In my practice, I believe that combining medication and therapy is the best treatment practice model with improved outcome for my clients. I am patient and open to listen and help my clients in a safe and acceptable ways following the local, state, and federal laws that guide my practice.
Ideal clients
My best clients are compliant, responsive, and collaborative with treatment plans and therapy. The client problems may include panic attacks, ADHD, depression, Insomnia, anxiety, PTSD and psychosis. Client's outcome is much better when the client is open to cooperating with treatment plan, test as required, honest, and follow up with provider's instructions. Though my training and license covers the population across life span, I mainly see patients from age 13 to adulthood. I encourage new clients to try to complete assessment questionnaires before attending their session. Clients are expected to also provide workable phone numbers and emails for contact and easy communication should the need arise.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I've been using CBT in my practice for the past four years. It's helped so many clients to challenge recurring thoughts and manage their anxiety. We'll use CBT to examine how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors interact. We'll then use that knowledge to change your thinking patterns, helping you lead a more relaxed, less stressful life. Application of CBT with mindfulness and supportive motivational interviews enables me to help so many clients with depression, ADHD, and anxiety and sleep issues by providing them with insights into their problem and coping skills to improve conditions and overcome their signs and symptoms. I try to apply therapy as needed to most of my patients because I strongly believe that the combination of psychotherapy and medication is the best practice in mental health.
