I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for the state of New Jersey who is passionate about the mental and emotional well-being of others. Since 2015, I have been proudly committed to serving people in need - it is truly my life's purpose! I am trauma informed, with a history of servicing individuals with symptoms of depression, anxiety, postpartum related diagnoses, low self-esteem, persons navigating life transitions/coping with life changes, those looking to enhance communication skills, rebuild trust, manage family conflict, reduce stress, enhance self-awareness, including those seeking general coping skills, mindfulness based practices, and more! I want to sincerely congratulate you on taking this courageous first step toward emotional wellness. Reaching out for help is not always easy, and I encourage you to pause for a moment and honor the strength it took to prioritize your mental health.
In our first session together, you can anticipate getting to know one another while also exploring personal goals. My genuine heart's desire is to create a safe space for those seeking assistance. I will do my best to answer any possible questions, and explore scheduling availability should our initial interaction present as a good fit.
My personal strengths include a unique combination of compassion, empathy, active listening and the ability to build therapeutic rapport. I am also intentional about creating a non-judgmental space for you to feel safe to communicate your thoughts and feelings.
First, I would like to acknowledge that therapy is not easy! Many people may notice contradicting thoughts and feelings, which is ok, and very common! At the same time, determination and discipline are necessary ingredients for our work together. I find that I am best suited to serve individuals who understand that therapy is a collaborative effort. One is encouraged to have a genuine desire to address unhelpful patterns, and over-all value personal development.
Acceptance commitment therapy is a treatment modality I often use with persons who are experiencing internal conflict. With this specific treatment, we will start by exploring your personal values. Once aware, we will continue the journey of identifying what decisions currently support the identified values, including what decisions do not. During our time together, there is no judgment. We will be intentional about allowing space for difficult thoughts, feelings, and sensations to arise, rather than suppressing or trying to control them.
CBT is one of the leading treatment modalities that positively impact the lives of persons in need. With this specific treatment, we will focus on how your thoughts affect your feelings which, in turn, impact your behaviors. Through education and processing, we will actively work on enhancing desired areas of growth for the betterment of your mental and emotional well-being.
In our time together, DBT skills may be encouraged to promote mindfulness (being present in the moment), distress tolerance skills (managing intense emotions), emotion regulation (understanding and managing emotions), and interpersonal effectiveness (skills aimed to improve and/or navigate relationships).
Francis Bacon is known for his quote, "knowledge is power." Psychoeducation is rooted in education to further assist individuals with understanding their condition. Through conversation and collaboration, we will review causes, symptoms, and treatment options. With the proper support, individuals often feel empowered to effectively utilize coping skills that mitigate mental health symptoms and over-all improve quality of life.
Renewed Minds Counseling Services was born with a guiding scripture from the Christian faith: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will” (Romans 12:2, NIV). This verse serves as both a foundation and an inspiration for the work we will do together, should Christian counseling be a requested service.
