Hi! I'm Sarah Thomas and I'm licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist based in California. I received my Masters degree from the National University in 2009 and have been practicing for nearly 16 years. I help individuals struggling with mood, anxiety, and trauma disorders, make sense of and navigate life today. My work focuses on helping people align with their most authentic self.
In our first session, I focus on creating a safe and welcoming space where you can share your story at your own pace. We'll discuss what brought you to therapy and explore what you are wanting to achieve during your journey. I take a collaborative approach, meaning we'll work together to outline a path that feels both supportive and empowering. You can expect curiosity, compassion, and a deep respect for your unique experiences as we begin this journey toward healing and wholeness.
One of my greatest strengths is my ability to see the whole person, beyond just their struggles. I have a natural ability to help clients feel safe, understood, and seen for who they truly are. My greatest strength lies in guiding people toward self-awareness and healing by integrating deep compassion with a structured, yet flexible, approach. I help clients uncover the root causes of their struggles while also providing practical strategies to create real change. My approach is holistic, addressing emotional, mental, and relational well-being, and I empower clients to reconnect with themselves in a way that feels authentic and sustainable.
I work best with individuals who feel emotionally overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in cycles that no longer serve them. My clients often carry the weight of unresolved trauma, stress, or difficult life transitions, and they’re seeking a deeper understanding of themselves. Many are high-functioning professionals, caregivers, or individuals who have spent years putting others first, often at the expense of their own well-being. I help those who are ready to prioritize their healing, break free from old patterns, and move toward a more balanced and whole sense of self.
Sarah Thomas offers therapy covered by Central California Alliance for Health (Medi-Cal), Gold Coast Health Plan (Medi-Cal), L.A. Care Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Orange County Mental Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Partnership HealthPlan of California (Medi-Cal) and San Francisco Health Plan (Medi-Cal) in California.
As a clinician who uses this treatment method, I meet the client where they're at, with compassion, non-judgment, and support. I aim to support the client by validating them (their experiences) and allowing them to explore their thoughts and feeling, while providing empathy.
