I specialize in trauma recovery (including complex PTSD, DID, social traumas, domestic violence, and more). I am also adept at serving neurodivergent folks, folks with mood disorders, and those struggling with grief. I am also comfortable working with folks with eating disorders, suicidal thoughts, phobias, and serious mental illnesses. I believe in inclusion, creating safe spaces, and client centered approaches that develop a sense of empowerment and confidence.
Initially we will connect via a free consultation call to confirm that we are a good fit. If we then schedule an intake we will develop a treatment plan and I will conduct a psychosocial interview to have a better sense of who you are and what you personally need from therapy.
I am client centered, relational, kind, non-judgmental, empowering, creative, and hold real regard for the people I serve.
It is important to me that my clients are being treated at the right level of care. As such, my programs best serves people who are not currently struggling with active addiction, are able to safety plan and commit to changing unsafe behaviors, and those wanting to experience a safe and inclusive space.
I was first trained in ACT over fifteen years ago. I love to see how thought diffusion and focusing on our values can help us simplify some of the problems and challenges we face in life. This is a beautiful form of therapy that emphasizes finding one's true sense of self, and allowing that self to help promote change and acceptance.
DBT is a fantastic option for clients who need more structure and a somewhat more intense therapeutic program. While I do not run a classical DBT program (where in biweekly sessions and group participation is required) my clients often track symptoms and learn many of the DBT skills and philosophies as part of our sessions.
Biofeedback and bi-lateral stimulation are central to working with the horses, helping people learn to calm their bodies, address trauma responses, and learn to deal with challenging emotions in the moment with tangible markers or progress. This is, generally, a favorite approach of my clients.
Exploring movement, experiences, and connection with the horses or even processing with walking helps my clients enter therapy with their whole self, body and mind, and often creates deep roots of healing which are immediately applicable at home.
Somatic therapy, listening to the body's signals, is a central component of healing trauma and developing a sense of safety within ourselves. It is a core part of every philosophy I utilize in session.
