Hello and welcome! My name is Tiffany Smith, and as a Counselor, I strive to offer empathetic, practical, and sustainable solutions to assist my clients on their journey. My passion lies in connecting individuals with their purpose by understanding how past and present experiences have shaped their identity. Ultimately, my goal is to help individuals, couples, and families reach their potential by promoting healing, improved self-awareness, and self-worth. As a mother with a son on the autism spectrum, I particularly enjoy working with parents of children with special needs and collaborating with community agencies for support. Additionally, I have a strong passion for assisting churches in developing clinical counseling programs and ministries through seminars and consultations because I believe that every church should offer counseling services. My years spent ministering to incarcerated youth during my teenage years have provided me with extensive experience working with both youth and adults as a substance abuse counselor, coupled with a desire to lead people towards Christ. I believe this has equipped me with a therapeutic, youthful, and relevant approach to counseling. When my clients express that empathy is one of my best qualities, I am incredibly grateful. Empathy is a genuine quality that comes from a heart that understands the healing power of God’s love. While I have received extensive training in counseling, it cannot compare to the active healing power of God’s love for the broken-hearted.
I spend a lot of the first session getting to know my clients and developing trust and comfort. I want each client to know that I am there as a guide and my purpose is to serve and support. While I am considered the expert I am also there to collaborate with my clients so we go on a journey together. The first and second sessions primarily work to gather history and establish goals. I also set a framework for the sessions so clients know what to expect once I know their needs and goals for therapy.
I believe that with the power of the Holy Spirit, coupled with the right tools; each person has within them the capacity to find paths suitable to live a fulfilling life. The services provided are meant to challenge each individual to walk in the identity God has created them to walk in. In collaboration with a team of professional counselors and leaders; I formulate effective strategies to overcome difficulties in an environment where participants feel supported mentally, socially, emotionally and spiritually.
My dream client understands that therapy is not the place to go to get a quick fix. They are open to therapy and embrace it as a place to get tools. Therapy is the training ground for transformation, but the real work happens after sessions, where clients learn to apply the tools given, remain flexible in their own process, and exemplify a willingness to engage. Give yourself time, know that change is challenging, but you are worth it.
I am an ordained Reverend and trained in integrative care coupling biblical truths with therapeutic insight. I work with clients on understanding how the mind and spirit work in unison through the assistance of the Holy Spirit and therapy tools.
I trained under Aaron Beck the Father of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and I include cognitive restructuring tools with specialty toward depression and suicidality.
I provide premarital and couples counseling to build and maintain intimacy, communication, and unity. We strive to assist couples in identifying Christ’s purpose for marriage, and how this divine partnership should function from a biblical and natural perspective.
