Welcome! I'm Janay. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in California. I received my Master's Degree in Social Work from Arizona State University and have been practicing for 6 years. I help young adults struggling with difficult thoughts about the future or the past identify what matters most to them to live a meaningful life. I work alongside folx to help them build the courage to live the life they want!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing in the different areas of your life. It can take up to 3 assessment sessions before we develop an individualized treatment plan. I will discuss informed consent so that you can make an informed decision about whether you want to participate in the proposed treatment plan. Your collaboration will help me create an individualized plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Over the past six years, having worked with individuals experiencing a variety of different transitions in their lives, I've learned from my clients how I can be most helpful in compassionately supporting them in building the courage to live a meaningful life even while experiencing challenges.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I humbly work from an acceptance and commitment therapy framework to help individuals live in the present moment and identify what is important to them. I take a supportive, compassionate, and collaborative approach to help you build the courage to live a meaningful life, even in the presence of mental health issues.

EMDR

I offer Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy for those who are struggling with difficult memories, thoughts, or feelings from past trauma. EMDR therapy is associated with a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma memories.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)

I use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) which is a type of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help those who are living with OCD develop a plan to practice confronting the thoughts, images, objects, and situations that make them anxious, in the service of what is important to them to live a meaningful life.
