Hello, my name is Robert. If you are like other people and feeling the pressures of everyday life then the stress from the cares of attempting to live a normal life are working overtime. The pace today is more hectic. People need help. Everyone deserves a safe place and a stable environment. I find the most effective ways to help people feel comfortable with therapy is a welcoming attitude with curiosity about their experiences that have brought the person into the session. My approach is to build a strong therapeutic alliance, provide acceptance, and focus on the present moment without judgment to help people gain the skills for managing complicated situations. Clients have often stated the experience was easy to discuss their issues without worry and they felt non-judged regardless of the situation. We will work together to discover what works, promote healing the whole person, and help understand the dynamics of existing relationships to choose to respond in a rational way to master life to the greatest extent possible. Seeking therapy can feel scary but you’re making the right choice. In our sessions together I’ll meet you with compassion and with evidence-based strategies so you can build resilience, and stability to find the supports you need.

As cheesy as it may sound, I've known that being a therapist was my calling from the time I was 16 years old and took my very first psychology class. In the many years since, I have been honored to walk through life's highs and lows and everything in between with my clients. In past career iterations, I have worked in a hospital as a medical social worker and case manager, and then as a therapist at a Partial Hospitalization Program. These experiences have helped to shape my worldview and practice, as a clinician and as a person. Being a therapist is truly my dream job, and I am so proud to be here doing it. When I'm not working, I am usually spending time with my fiance and any combination of our 4 pets--snuggling up with the cats and a book, or outside adventuring with the dogs. My goal is to train my youngest chaos gremlin, Charlie, as a therapy dog!

I am a trauma-informed, skills-based therapist who helps adults move from feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or emotionally stuck to feeling more grounded, regulated, and in control of their lives. My work is grounded in evidence-based approaches including CBT and DBT, with a strong focus on practical tools, emotional regulation, and real-life change—not just insight. I specialize in helping clients manage anxiety, depression, stress, and mild to moderate substance use concerns, especially those who want structure, clear goals, and strategies they can actually use between sessions. What makes my approach different is that I focus on helping clients build real-time skills for real-life moments, so progress isn’t just something you talk about in therapy—it’s something you can feel in your day-to-day life.

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
