New to Grow
I am Kaneka Hall, a licensed clinical social worker. I have over 13 years of experience in various settings and various populations including military/veteran, children, adults as well as the geriatric population in community and hospital settings including long-term care/nursing homes. I specialized in disorders such as anxiety, depression and ADHD as well as situational challenges such as family conflict, relationship and peer challenges, life transitions, and religious and cultural challenges.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
During the first session, we will briefly review my counseling style and logistics including confidentiality. Following this, we will discuss what is bringing you to therapy while completing an intake form to gain more insight about your history and your family history as well. With any time we have left, we are able to discuss any pressing issues or stressors.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My approach is very laid back to provide an atmsophere that you feel comfortable discussing your challenges. With this approach, I encourage you to bring what you need to be able to increase your vulnerability during sessions including having your fur babies or using a notebook to take notes. Each session is client-focused to allow you to have control over sessions.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
My ideal client is a client who is open to exploring as well as challenging thoughts and behaviors with the hope that the necessary tools will be learned and successfully implemented outside of sessions. Motivation to make changes is very important as I provide a lot of feedback and suggestions during the session and often provide homework assignments to further reinforce strategies discussed during sessions.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
This treatment is used to target various diagnoses by finding coping skills, problem solving and challenging/reframing of thoughts to help reduce symptomatology.
