When it comes to facing transitions in life, things can get difficult to manage. Although it can seem daunting and overwhelming at the onset of sessions, by the end of our therapy experience, together we will work on coping skills to address any concerns that may arise in the present and future.
I started working in the Social Work field with children and families in the child welfare realm. I've continued the journey in the community health space with pregnant and parenting women and families. Throughout this time, I've continuously provided individual therapy to children and adults helping clients eliminate or diminish barriers that inhibit personal success.
Seeking therapy can be scary at first but we will work together to remove the fear and gain access to successes that you didn't know were possible. I'd love to help you get to your level. You only need to take the first step!

Hi, there, I'm Taffie -
Thank you so much for talking with me! Sometimes it's hard to ask for help - and therapy is a great start! Therapy is not at all scary - often it is a conversation that opens up new thoughts and emotions.
Are you looking for a safe welcoming place where you can just be? Be heard, be valued, be accepted exactly where you are? I invite you into my space to experience these thoughts and emotions. As a therapist, I incorporate different approaches which address a variety of mental health issues. I empower you to move forward in life in a way that is dynamic and nurturing. I have an unwavering belief that you can experience change based on your needs and goals. We can walk through challenge and fear together to help you create a fulfilling life.
My specialties are relationships with family and other significant folks - such a crucial part of our lives. I also can address trauma and PTSD, anxiety, depression and the fluctuations of our mood and emotions. I am always open to discussions of gender identity and sexual identity.
I would like to listen as you articulate the issues you are dealing with at this time and help you find the direction you're looking for. It can be freeing to have someone listen, ask questions and make observations - because this time is about you.
One of my favorite quotes is: "I am a lighthouse, rather than a lifeboat. I do not rescue, but instead help others to find their way to shore". If you are searching for the way to the shore, I can help.

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist with several years of experience working with diverse populations of adult individuals and couples. One of the core values that guides my treatment approach is the belief that nothing happens in isolation. I firmly believe that every behavior, thought and feeling has underlying reasons and meanings that deserve exploration. With genuine care and empathy, I help you uncover the root of your struggles, empower you to gain insight and achieve lasting growth.
Being born and raised in Turkey and living in many different parts of the country allowed me to develop a passion for understanding the complexities of human behavior and relationships early on. This passion led me to pursue my bachelor’s degree at Koc University, Istanbul where I double majored in psychology and sociology.
Driven by my curiosity and desire to make a positive impact, after completing my undergraduate experience in Turkey, I moved to the US, and I continued my graduate experience at Drexel University, Philadelphia and got my master’s degree from Master of Family Therapy. My cultural and educational background helped me to acquire a comprehensive understanding of the individual and societal factors that shape your experiences. For these reasons, I view your well-being through a systemic lens, and recognize the profound influence of your home environment, work life, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, race and cultural background on your behaviors, feelings, and thoughts.

Maria has been a blessing and a feeling of stability I could not be more grateful for in such a turbulent point in my life. She is very respectful and always listens. I know she’s a great listener because she provides insightful opinions, advice, and something I think is undervalued normally, validation. She doesn’t make you feel judged and is someone who is Team: your well-being. I couldn’t recommend her more especially to someone who might be coming to therapy for the first time since that kind of vulnerability can be scary.
--A.L.·Dec 02, 2021
Maria is very attentive to your personal issues and offers very professional and sound advice. I am grateful to have her as my therapist.
--J.O.·Oct 21, 2021
Maria was very helpful in my situation; this was my first experience with therapy and I wasn't sure what to expect but we hit the ground running and I was able to make really good progress right away. I struggled with setting boundaries and how to better communicate with my loved ones - this is a source of anxiety for me. Maria listens and really understands what I'm going through. She set me up with great worksheets and helped me start to be more reflecting and proactive to work through tough situations. With her help, I was able to make some realizations and she coached me on how to set healthy boundaries and helped me understand the different types of boundaries. Maria was easy to talk to because you can tell she cares and respects how you feel. Thanks again for your help!!

When you need a therapist, you need someone who can talk to you and listen to you wholly. I believe in meeting a person-in-place approach and building a rapport from there. You are taking time to read all this content as you might be trying to find help to manage your stress, anxiety, depression or trauma and thinking about who to turn to. Sometimes, you may be looking for someone to offer you choices, clarify issues or provide guidance to lead you on your way. I’m here to provide you with a safe space and listen to you non-judgmentally. I have extensive experience working with clients of different backgrounds and I am trained in most evidence-based mental health treatment modalities.
Some mental health symptoms are culture-specific and you may want to explore them from your cultural perspective. My life-long goal is to provide culturally and linguistically relevant counseling and therapies. I have helped individuals and families to navigate through difficult situations with acculturation, adjustment and reducing barriers to access, manage and treat mental health. I will be using a collaborative approach to explore and utilize your strengths.

"Life can be stressful, overwhelming and confusing at times. It's as if you have this weight that is on your shoulders that does not seem to get any lighter. Therapy is a great way to unpack the load that you are carrying and help make life more manageable. Whether it's conflict with your children, spouse, co-workers or friends, or financial difficulties, or even the pressure you put on yourself, all of these concerns and more I address with my clients in therapy.
My approach to therapy is to provide a safe place where you can be yourself and talk about issues and topics that matter to you. It is a value based and strength based approach meaning, each of us have values that we live by and have built in strength and resiliency. Therapy is a tool that can highlight those values and build upon those strengths. I am a licensed psychologist who has experience working with children, adolescents and adults to help them achieve their personal goals. I look forward to assisting you with developing insight into your own life about recurring patterns, thoughts or behaviors and help you learn more adaptive ways of approaching life so you can master it!"

Hello! My name is Heidi.
Does it feel like life decisions are sometimes, mostly, or always difficult to make? Does it feel like others do not value those life decisions or put you down? Do relationships seem to just fall apart for no apparent reason? Is work-life balance overwhelming and exhaustive? Is it hard to be kind to yourself or even others? Does nothing in life seem to go right no matter how hard you work or try to please others? Do you feel defeated? Are there feelings that have become more difficult to control? Feeling shamed, embarrassed, or disgusted toward yourself? You are now in the right place at the right time to start feeling better!
Being a human is simply, and quite frankly, incredibly complicated. Especially when life takes us through unexpected turns or navigates us to dead ends. Every single one of us will go through something at one point or another that will interrupt the journey significantly. Sometimes those experiences make us feel derailed and hopeless causing overwhelming depression, anxiety, anger, grief or other layers of emotions that just get in the way of.... well, life. This is when we say to ourselves... "Self. It's time".
Entering into therapy should be a thoughtful decision. The relationship between you and your therapist needs to "click". I will take the time to walk those dark paths with you so you do not feel alone, no matter how stuck. Together we can discover how to manage all of those difficult emotions, thoughts, and behaviors... and what to do when they consume us. Inside this life-changing discovery process, we will do this together in a confidential, safe space, that will never cause emotions of insecurity or feeling judged. Trauma is very real. I promise to provide empathy and sensitivity with a strong focus on trauma-informed care.
We will use an integrated approach of cutting-edge evidence-based practices featuring some, and not all, of my favorites: Eco-Systemic Family Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Emotional Freedom, and/or Exposure techniques and others not listed. Together, we may examine our thought process through different therapeutic mediums in the listed schools of thought which may include: talk therapy, journaling, worksheets, art, mindfulness, mindfulness, grounding, exposure therapy, integrated muscle relaxation techniques, and more. Therapy can be quite insightful and FUN! Who'da thunk!
We will work on you... the WHOLE YOU. Together, we will learn multiple ways to create a positive life lens, promote growth, and illicit change to establish BALANCE.
I look forward to working with you on this journey of life!
Change will happen if you let it! Let's get to work!

My name is Lauren DeTurk and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor at Grow Therapy. I’ve been working in the mental health field since I was 18 years old and I’m currently 42 years old. I started off working as a recreational aid for Kidspeace at a camp called Sarah’s Smile located in Orefield, PA working with children ages 3 to 8 years old with autism spectrum disorders and from there I worked as a therapeutic staff support or TSS also with Kidspeace working with children and their families with autism spectrum disorders in the home, school, and community. I also moved from there to working still with the same company at Kidspeace as a mental health worker at a partial school-based classroom called Advances in Temple, PA with adolescents ages 13-14 years old who were kicked out of their home school district due to challenging behaviors combined with mental health disorders.
I was in graduate school at the time at Kutztown University also known as KU in the marital and family therapy program and my internship was at Berks Counseling Center in Reading, PA working with adult men and women with substance abuse issues and/or co-occurring disorders such as mental illnesses. I did individual and group therapy while I was interning there.
December 5, 2008 I graduated from KU with my Master of Arts in Marital & Family Therapy and from there I went to work at Chester County Mental Health and Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities as a Supports Coordinator (Caseworker) working with children and adults with autism spectrum disorders or mental illness or intellectual and developmental disabilities. I was named Rookie of the year out of 200 new employees at the county. I then worked at Keystone Autism Services working with adults with autism spectrum disorders as Behavioral Health Specialist and supervising 10 Community Support Professionals or CSPS.
Then I moved to Wyomissing, PA and worked as a Family Based Therapist at Philhaven now called Wellspan in the home, school, and community with a co-therapist following a strict 32 week structural family therapy model with children ages 3-18 years old with serious emotional disturbances and/or mental health disorders and their families videotaping individual and family therapy sessions. I’d present at The Centers For Family Based Training in front of 150 therapists showing videotapes of family therapy sessions that my clients signed consents for and received feedback on my therapeutic skills & interventions.
Shortly thereafter I became engaged and moved to Kutztown, PA where I got a job working at Berks County Prison as a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner overseeing 200 inmates on suicide watch and doing suicide assessments on a daily basis. I was responsible for keeping them safe and I had to check on them every 10-15 minutes.
From there I worked at Child Guidance Resource Centers in Coatesville, PA as a Multisystemic Family Therapist working with teenagers and their parents who had conduct disorders and/or substance abuse disorders providing individual and parenting therapy sessions. Most of my clients were on probation and had been in juvenile detention centers.
After working at Child Guidance Resource Centers I got a job working at Reading Hospital as an Integrated Care Clinician/ LPC embedded in an OBGYN practice 4 days a week working with women with depression and others with postpartum depression and/or postpartum psychosis. I worked 1 day away at a Pain Management Center/Clinic providing individual therapy for those struggling with chronic pain and/or opioid dependence which brings me to now working at Grow Therapy as a Licensed Professional Counselor.
My specialties are PTSD, Anxiety Disorders such as Generalized Anxiety Disorder, OCD, Agoraphobia, Panic Disorder, and other mental health disorders including Depression, Postpartum Depression, Bipolar Disorder, eating disorders, substance abuse disorders, and Personality Disorders such as Borderline Personality Disorder, Narcissistic Personality Disorder, and Histrionic Personality Disorder.

Have you been wondering if your current challenges are due to past traumatic life events? Do you struggle in relationships? If so, I may be the Therapist for you. I specialize in trauma therapy for teenagers and adults.
Many people often think trauma is only caused by violent crimes, acts of physical abuse, or natural disasters. They may also think because trauma happened a long time ago, it does not affect them in the present. These are a few of the myths about trauma. There are many types of traumas such as the sudden or unexpected death of a loved one, bullying, retaliation in the workplace, neglect from parents, infidelity, intimate partner violence, the witnessing of domestic violence and more.
If you or your teen is struggling with anxiety, depression, or life stressors, therapy with me can help with positive changes to strengthen self-esteem and confidence.
I am trained in EMDR and other trauma therapy approaches. My years of professional experience as a teacher and counselor, along with my lived experiences as a Black person allow me to provide empathetic regard while helping clients from multicultural backgrounds.
