LCSW, 22 years of experience
New to Grow
Hi! If you are feeling overwhelmed by life's stressors or stuck and aren't sure which way to go next, I am here to help! The ways we’ve coped in the past might not work the same anymore—and that’s okay. That’s where therapy can help. My name is Holly Riggs and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience so I understand that the thought of starting therapy can be a little intimidating and scary. I’m here to give you a safe space to talk things through, no judgment. Together, we’ll figure out what’s going on, what’s feeling stuck, and how to find new ways to cope and move forward. Whether you're dealing with something unexpected or just feeling off, we’ll work at your pace to make things feel a little more manageable—and hopefully a little lighter too.
During our first session I will focus on getting to know a little bit about you and about what brought you to therapy in the first place. We will also discuss the goals that you have for yourself and begin setting some goals for us to work toward together.
I have been practicing in the field for the past 22 years working with anxiety, depression life transitions, chronic and terminal illness, and loss and grief. I utilize a variety of therapeutic approaches but am particularly fond of a Strengths based approach, Acceptance and Commitment therapy as well as Narrative therapy. All of these methods allows clients to be the voice of change in their own lives. I will work with you to develop a treatment plan that aims to focus on your areas of struggle. I firmly believe that it is the relationship between client and therapist that is the "magic ingredient" so if you feel that I may be someone you would like to work with please reach out., I would love to have the chance to talk with you.
I work with individuals and couples who are struggling with life transitions, or interpersonal relationship concerns as well as individuals who are just trying to figure out how to make the most of life. I also have expertise in loss and grief related to illness and death and LGBTQIA+ related concerns. My goal is to provide a safe and open place for clients to explore their adjustment concerns, anxiety and depression that can arise from the stressors of daily life. Together we can focus on the areas that are holding you back from being able to go out and fully engage in the world around you and with the people who care about you the most.
I try to help clients identify their strengths and identify the ways that they can use those strengths to help get them through difficult times in their lives.
I utilize narrative therapy to try and help clients reframe troubling events in their lives.
ACT helps clients accept difficult emotions and develop psychological flexibility to cope with life's challenges.
