My name is Lauren DeTurk. I got my LPC license in May 2014. However, I have been in the field for 27 years. My top 3 specialties are infertility, Postpartum Depression and Postpartum Anxiety, and eating disorders. Another specialty and passion I have is working with couples doing couple's therapy or marital & family therapy. I thrive working with couples and this population I am extremely passionate about. I also have extensive experience treating eating disorders (binge eating disorder, bulimia, anorexia, eating disorders unspecified) throughout the years. I have experience working as a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner on Suicide Watch at a prison, as an outpatient therapist, TSS, multisystemic therapist, family-based therapist, and county caseworker working with the mental health and intellectual and developmental disabilities population securing group home funding and other services working in West Chester, PA.
In our first session together, I will ask you questions regarding your mental health history and previous experience in therapy: what worked and what didn't work, so I can best help you. Our first session is dedicated to creating a safe space for you to share what brings you into therapy, foster connection, and build rapport.
I believe my biggest areas of strength are my empathic listening, years of experience working in the mental health field, unconditional positive regard for all of my clients, and eclectic approach to therapy. I have a 100% success rate for clients who have completed an intake with me scheduling a follow-up appointment. My #1 preferred niche/clientele are couples!
Clients with: -Marital difficulties or relationship difficulties (providing couples and marital therapy) - Postpartum Depression (PPD) and Postpartum Anxiety (PPA) - Eating Disorders (Anorexia, Bulimia, Binge Eating Disorder) - Anxiety Disorders such as Generalized Anxiety Disorder, OCD, Agoraphobia, Panic Disorder - Depression -Bipolar Disorder - PTSD -Infertility - Stress -Hoarding -Gambling Addiction -Sex Addiction -Pregnancy loss (miscarriages, ectopic pregnancies, stillbirths) -SIDS trauma * I do not work with the borderline personality disorder population or those with an ACTIVE substance abuse disorder. I do work with those in recovery. * *** My availability is limited. The only availability I have in the evenings after 3PM is Thursdays at 4PM and one Thursday a month at 7:00PM. Lauren really understands what I’m trying to say and what I mean. She focuses on solutions and helps me sort out my thoughts, especially if someone has confused me or tried to manipulate me. She helps me see the situation as it really is, and that makes it easier for me to understand things clearly.

Lauren seems very understanding, supportive and flexible. I was very concerned to finally seek the help of a therapist I don’t feel that way anymore as Lauren creates a comfortable atmosphere and is attentive to my goals.

Im so Glad that i match up well with Lauren DeTurk. She's very understandable person to what I say to her ( She's A Good Listener) . I say intelligent because thats what she is in her profession.
