My name is Vanessa and I am a licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Florida, Missouri, New Mexico, New Hampshire and South Carolina. I am bilingual(English & Spanish) and can provide counseling in both languages. I am originally from New York and have made Florida my home. My clinical background in Mental Health began as an undergrad and continued through grad school, working for the public sector for the Department of Children & Families where I worked with children, then the elderly in skilled nursing facilities and with adolescents in group homes. I then went on to work as a Nurse Navigator and provided services that included counseling and advocacy for oncology patients at one of the largest cancer hospitals in South Florida. In addition to this, I have also worked with adults in inpatient rehab for substance abuse and court ordered treatment, and served outpatient clients in the LGBTQ community. My training is in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic, Solution Focused, and many others that include treatment planning; where my goal is to get my client back to a normal baseline that they are comfortable with and can function in their daily life. I am an open minded, kindhearted and empathetic individual, where my mantra is that I am here for YOU, my job is to assist you in anyway that I can, and help you manage life's daily stressors that may be recent or long-term. I work daily to remove the stigma that Mental Health has in our society, because the reality is, we all have good and bad days, some just need some assistance and guidance on how to manage it better. I believe we are all one step away from a mental health crisis, life is one big roller coaster of stress, worry, emotion that all revolve around something changing in our life that we were not prepared for and do not know how to adjust to it. So my job is to help you navigate all of that and achieve happiness, peace and overall well being.

I provide counseling services for clients seeking professional therapy while recognizing that God has an important role in personal healing. I want it to be evident to my clients that I am a Christian therapist who understands the power and grace God desires for his children. My goal is to help my clients discover the secrets of scripture written plainly for our instruction. When answers are lifted off the pages of God's love letter, it is energizingly freeing! The Bible is enough. Although I have been trained at a Master's Level by a University program and pursued a clinical license through Illinois and Missouri, I have learned that the Bible is the ultimate source for counseling through the most challenging times. Allow me to assist you in discovering God's instruction on how to positively restructure patterns of cognitive distortions and encourage behavior change so that you can experience peace of mind and joy. I specialize in working with those who struggle with anxiety, panic, addictions, OCD, sadness & depression and those looking to find purpose in life. As a solution-focused therapist, I am goal-oriented and vow not to misuse my time to reach set goals. I provide Online / Virtual Christian Counseling for Illinois and Missouri Residences. “The Word of God is sufficiently useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.” ~ 2 Tim. 3:16.

For years I've worked as an educator, guiding teens and adults to find healing through creative expression: art, music, drama, movement, and writing. In private practice as a therapist now, I blend evidenced-based therapy, with creative intuition. I work with teens and adults with a wide range of symptoms, who "feel stuck". For therapy to be effective, a client must feel safe in session. Additionally, a therapist must engage the mind and body and unique personality of each client. While I am only accepting clients online at this time, I guarantee sessions with me will not ever feel "remote".

Hello! I am Susan. Are you feeling stuck in life and defined by past traumas or mistakes? Do you find these issues affecting your ability to establish quality relationships? Does anxiety or depression feel like a constant companion? It is my goal to meet each individual where they are at in life and learn their story so that we can address the core issues and not just treat the surface symptoms. I work from a strengths-based approach as we identify barriers to progress and create a path forward to overcome those barriers. I love to meet each new client and feel humbled to bear witness to their stories and their healing. Seeking therapy can feel so intimidating. It takes great courage to face the memories and issues you may have avoided up until now. When we meet, it will be your goals and values that guide treatment. I will allow you to set the pace so that the process feels tolerable. It is one of the greatest privileges of my life to walk with others through hard places. I utilize a variety of evidence-based treatments depending on your needs and preferences. Let healing start now.

I will not pass judgment on your situation but allow you time to process what is slowing you down or making you stuck in life. I will encourage and support you as well as challenge you in your effort to move forward through the hurt. I enjoy working with children, adolescents, and adults. Finding a therapist you can identify with, feeling heard & accepted can be a challenging feat. Therapists are not one size fits all. We are people with problems, just like you. I offer you over 20 years of experience in the mental health and substance abuse treatment world. I have an undergraduate degree in psychology (2001) and a graduate degree (2006) in professional counseling. With working 10 of those years in a hospital setting, I also have a decent handle on possible medical issues you might need to be referred for. After more life experience, I became a Licensed Professional Counselor in 2016 and opened my private practice. I can't tell you all the answers to life's problems, but together we can come to what the best decision will be for you in particular. Your goals and values are worth exploring. Your likes and dislikes matter. Your happiness is not selfish.
